Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak,

It’s driving me mad, absolutely mad!
Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak,
It’s worse than the worst of tortures…
Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak,

It’s my ceiling fan!

Its 80* in my room, but the air outside is cool,
Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak,
But my ceiling fan squeaks!
Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak,
Round and Round and Round it goes...
Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak,

Then cruel joke of jokes; What? It’s starting to quit, ah almost.

Then

Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak
Ok, pretend it’s the ocean; pretend its white noise…
Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak, Creak

Didn’t work I’m posting at midnight.

Can you oil one of these things?? How?

Maybe squirt some WD-40 on it? You do have a can of WD-40 like a good geek girl I hope!

There should be a small oil ponit somehwere on the side chassis for it, Surreal. If you have a manual or something it should be in there (you don't throw manuals away do you? )

Another potential problem is that the bearing is worn and it is now rotating out of kilter. Oiling may not fix this.

Happy thought, eh?

Cheers
Mick

PS You could prolly get a new one at Home Depot I hear..

I sure do Socalgal, my boyfriend bought me 2 64oz cans! What a guy!

I was fantisizing about spraying it down like hairdresser attacking a Beehive hairdoo with a can of cheap hairspray...

Then I thought... hmmm WD40 combustion.. spraying an electric motor.. maybe not!

So I posted!

Very funny mick! That's why I'm getting the gift card from the one I ordered being out of stock...
Nah, It's a rental, the owner won't fix it and I will not upgrade a cheap chump's property.. so a new 52" fan is ut!
Doh!!... well guess I'm wishy washy on that subject..

In that case, go back to a 8K screamer fan on your CPU and you'll never worry about the ceiling fan again!!

Cheers

Maybe its just out of balance? Does it wobble slightly?
Try taping a couple coins to the blade where you cant see em, maybe you can move em around and balance it out possibly ending the squeaks...

LOL! When I first moved into this place, there was a ceiling fan over the bed, it had a very subtle creak, creak, too, but what REALLY bugged me was the way it would wobble...ever so slightly...

And I'd be wide awake, wondering if the person who put it up knew what they were doing...imagining the thing falling down and severing an important limb or something (you know, it's dark...the fan's going, creak...whir...creak..."feelin' kinda LOOSE up here...".creak...)

Finally took it down, disassembled as much of it as possible (sealed motor) jammed synthetic teflon grease into the rotor shaft and stuck that bad boy back up there with FOUR expansion bolts...chastened, it behaves itself now.
