Wearing pants around the knees???

I just gotta know...why do people (kids mostly) wear their jeans, trousers, etc. around their knees or just above them? Most of the time they have to take baby steps while they walk because their pants are locking their knees together. Plus they spend half of their time holding on to their pants to keep them from dropping to the floor. I mean, do they really think that we want to see their drawers? I've discussed this with many of my friends, but none of us are quite sure why they do it. Any of you know why?
Any of you have kids that do it? I'm sure it's just one of the "cool" things to do, but it looks so uncomfortable! I'm not slamming the kids for doing it (Lord knows we all have our own crazy styles), I'm just curious...

Any inputs are appreciated as always!

Mike

LOL you don't wanna know.. Actually I haven't really done that.. I like to be able to get out of my chair and run without tripping over myself.
Although no one in my school does it (VERY suprising, eh?) but it's just one of those fashions..I don't personally think that the baggy pants style will go away.

I have wondered this also, I wore some jeans that were a bit oversized to work on the house and I was pulling my pants up all freaking day....drove me nuts.

I think it will eventually go away....just like the skin tight pants of the 80's and bell bottoms of the 70's...

I'm not seeing it quite as much as I used to, but there are still plenty of kids sportin' that style. It makes me laugh to be honest, but I'm sure they would laugh at my 80's feathered hairstyle!

This is all the rage with teens in Australia at present. Dunno why, cause it looks jolly uncomfortable!

Seems the girls wear the "below-the-naval-as-far-as-they-can" hiphuggers, and the guys wear the "fall-down-if-ya-dont-hold-em-up" jeans. Oh, well, that's the fashion, I 'spose.

Cheers
Mick

Hehehe, talk about fashions, back in the day (late 60's--early 70's ) the quest was to find bell-bottoms flared out so wide a family of Gypsies could live in 'em...yeah, we figured we were gonna change the world by wearing our hair down to our shoulders, dressing like clowns, and ingesting all the drugs we could get...

Tell you the truth, I have a lot of affinity for these new kids coming up. Much more clear-headed, plus I think they smell better, too.

I agree with Knothead on the smell issue! Also, I can't tell how old the girls are these days. I look young, so from time to time I'll get asked out by a "woman" who ends up being a 16-18 yr old girl! Sad thing is I couldn't tell! When I tell them that I'm more than 10 yrs their senior, they're like "oh, I'm sorry...I didn't know you were so old". What do you mean so old??? Grrr!!! LOL

I believe it is a youth "Rap" artist thing based on guys in prison. Prisoners are not aloud to wear belts because of them being used as weopons and the potential for suicide. Because of this their pants fall down thus starting a trend.
