Talk I START TOMORROW!!!!!!

I finally landed a job in this job poor area. I'll be a shipping/receiving clerk for The Cabinet Factory. They(We) produce custom cabinet faces, doors, and drawers for everything from homes to those custom built coaches that you see music stars travel around in.

It's only $7.50/hr to start, but after 90 days it's supposed to go up to around $10/hr.

I'm very happy because my unemployment benifits were supposed to run out last week, I'm on the extension right now.

Cool, congratz Kuasi.

Holmen huh? That's way down by La Crosse and Minnesota right? I used to have a couple friends that worked in a cabinet factory, but not the one you're in (unless they have a branch near GB).

Good luck.

Congrats, Kuasi!

My father was a 'cabnet maker' way back and always was good with wood working.

Best of luck on the new job.

Too bad they're only electric forklifts

Here's a picture of the place, the little blue building to the right is not there anymore, and the right side of the building is now as big as the left side. The right side is the shipping department, where I'll be working.

Whir, yep, we're right along the Mississippi River, Holmen is about 7 miles north of La Crosse. In fact, you can see the bluffs in Minnesota across the river from just about anywhere in the area.

Hmmm... seems like I can't load the page now, hopefully it's a short term outage. Maybe I can get them to upgrade the server with my help?

Well, after sitting thru 3 hours of boring videos and speeches, they finally gave us (5 of us started today) a tour of the plant. It took almost an hour for that!!

Finally got to the shipping department and found my job. They handed me an air powered nail gun and had me start assembling crates for doors. This thing sounds like a .38 when it fires a nail
Did that for a couple hours and then started printing shipping labels and manifests.

Today we shipped out over 2800 custom made drawers and doors

This is pretty cushy work

My first day and I already have 1 hour of overtime, and they said I can work as much overtime as I want

I hear a new system coming in about 2 months
