Outdoors Rude Awakinging

Well I am sound asleep off in my little dream world and my body notices a disturbance in the pitch black of my room. there it is again, slowly bringing me out of my peaceful slumber i been waiting impatiently all day for. My body tries to ignore the the disturbance slowly rousting me out of my peace, there it is again, what is that my body responds internally, slowly as im pulled out of my favororite dark place where dreams and nightmare gallops through my mind and my minds sees its a flashing light, my mind is still hazing from its slumber, there it is again. flashing away slowly to bright then dims to none, few seconds pass there it is again, slowly gets bright then dims to dark again. Finally my brain registers its the tty ringing. I get up and stumble to answer it. Its my friend, he is sad, why so sad my friend well my car got broken into and all his business papers, reciepts, bank cards and backpack and possibly the laptop I been loaning him for the last few months and possibly his nice sterio. I sleeply tell him that I am sorry that is not good news at all. We need to call the banks and put stops on all the cards before something happens, im still rubbing the much needed sleep out my eyes and slow dawn of more sad news springs to my mind and my whole body is awake. oh man! I was in your rig earlier tonight and my wallet is in the jockey box. He puts me on hold and I am dumbly praying that the theif would have ignored it, but no the theif cleaned it out pretty good. It also possibe they may have taken the laptop that I been loaning him for several months as he had just picked up from me again this evening to finish some work on it and possibly his nice sterio. I tease him the dancing Jacking dino sterio in personal good times. Nothing is so funny now, he goes cause the officer has showed up and is unable to give me more detials.
I spring into action and called my banks to report my cards stolen, first one to call was my visa as its too easy for someone to make a charge on that without needing the card themselves. I don't sign the back of my cards, rather I write, " Please ask for photo id". On all of my cards except one. Which is the oregon trail card but the theifing person can't do nothing with that one.
While making my calls i am dumbstruck with one bank their systems are down for about 6 hours and i stated so what am i suppose to do if a charge is made during the time yoru computers are shut down. they said to just call back and file a complaint for fraudulant charges and then we will investigate it to determine if we can give you some money back. Wow what comfort it is to know that. i report it anyways and they said they will enter the info as soon as the computers are back online and issue me a new card to use.

Now im awake and before hanging up with my friend said for him to show up here at my house so we can make the calls we need. :sigh:

Everything lost in a moment of someone elses desperation for drugs or whatever it may be. Its saddening to know that people are driven to such measures.

Cash, ID's, business information ALL Receipts for the business are gone. HOw does one recover from something like that? I guess we will find out soon from the CPA.

:Sigh: Wish I could easly just roll over and go back to my pleasuring peaceful dark slumber that I always look forward to every night, the tiem when all ails, worries and joys are blotted out for nothingness.

Well thank you for your kind ear/eyes.

No but it was missing one side cover on the side and I'd be able to ID it in a heartbeat. The laptop has taken quite a beating and still going strong. I do have all the orginal papers to the laptop with serial numbers and everything so if that is the case then I will be able to submit those papers to the police as well. I will find out more info when he comes over in a little while.

Ouch! I wouldn't really think of Portland as a hotbed of crime, so hopefully the polices will be able to spend enough time looking into this that you'll have a chance at getting your stuff back?

Petty theft doesn't seem like that big a deal when compared to all the other crime that we hear about daily, but these dirtbags cause alot of disruption and sometimes fear in the lives of their victims also. Perhaps the practice of cutting off fingers or hands of thieves isn't such an extreme punishment after all....

Sorry about your loss and all the nuisances you'll have to go through

When I lived in Belmont, CA I thought I liked in a really nice area, anyway I had my truck broken into they stole about $2500 worth of stereo stuff and my breifcase with my work info & gas card,at the time I worked for CalTrans for Amtrax and some of the info. was very very important info, luckly whoever stole my stuff dumped my briefcase about a block away and the only thing they took out of it was the gas card. They tried to use it at a gas station one of the pay at the pumps and was captured on tape tag # and all,so they got caught.I never did get me stereo stuff back though.
