I HATE Fords

As far back as I can remember, my family has always owned at least one Ford. It all started with the Comet. I was too young to remember how it died, but it did. Next came the Tempo. This car would ALWAYS overheat. We replaced the radiator, hoses, coolant etc, we even had the fan hardwired, it would never cool down. The coolant would boil in the tank and once it burst, sending the lid into the hood. This car died of a cracked engine block. Next was the Aerostar minivan. During highway driving, the crankshaft bearing self-destructed and took everything else with it. The van now sounded like a diesel and it idled at 250rpm. The sound it made was sweet I must admit but it stalled every time you would try to put it in drive. Now my dad has a Windstar which is about to die. The transmission intermittently downshifts sending the RPMs through the roof and past the redline. Now my friend just yesterday bought a 96 Mustang GT. It has a 4.8L V8 monster under the hood but for some reason it only produces 215 horsepower. This is such a dissapointment. German or Japanese engineering could easliy get an engine half this size to perform the same way. The mustang is not a light car either. The performance was ok but nothing exceptional. What is there to say about the top of the line American sports car that performance and luxury wise, can be put to shame by a Japanese family? (Nissan Maxima etc.) No more Fords for me, thankyou.

The best ford I've seen and was put into production in Europe (Mainly Britain) was a Ford Escort ... Not any old ford escort though .. They let a tuning company called Cosworth tune it a little.. Made it like 300hp+ and 4 wheel drive with 40% powering the back wheels and 60% powering the front..

It was the ultimate machine and is still much sought after, Police also used them as the were amazingly fast and have outstanding acceleration... They could top 160mph easily.

The Escort cosworth (CoZZy for short) won just about every major rally event in the world..

Still can't beat jap/german reliability!

And more pictures of earlier cossies... This is the sierra cosworth... Sierra is also a Ford and notorious for being a rust bucket... I know I owned one .. Shame it wasn't a cossie though.

The Mustangs went downhill when they stopped putting the rollercam 5.0 V8's in them. The State Patrol still has a few of these on the road as "Interceptors" for catching hot rodders who think they have fast cars.

As for quality, I would still take an older Ford truck over any other make. I've owned 2 F150's, a 77 and a 71, and both of them went well beyond 200,000 miles before being retired. The 77 actually died a valiant death, earning second place in one of the local demolition derbies a couple years ago

I've never had a problem with Fords...I'm still driving my '93 Ford Ranger (I got it used in '97.) It has 126000+ miles on it and its still going strong. Its a 4.0L V6 with a 5-speed manual, I get great gas mileage and there really aren't any mechanical problems. I just flushed my radiator and changed my oil last weekend, and I'm going to need new rear shocks pretty soon. I really can't complain about Ford's ability to make a decent vehicle.
