ummmmmmmmmmmm

If ya all don't mind, im gonna

Scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay now that I got that off my chest and Hope I didn't bust your eyes er ears.

There is NOTHING worse than dealing with a program that is sooooo limited and not only that with HUGE design flaws. I dont' have much of a choice but to work with this program and I got to give a training session tonight. I am not looking forward to that only because of the fact that from a programming point of view this program has a lot of bugs to be worked out. Please keep in mind that I DID NOT RECOMMEND THIS POS SOFTWARE! My recommedations were ignored due to a cost factoring and I already knew this program was badly designed and they wanted it anyways. This is not the first time they have gone against my recommendations.

***NOTE POS mean the Piece of ***** ya know.

Name of program: CRE2001 its a point of sale software.

Like for example you can select special pricing in the inventory maintence like bulk pricing 5 for 5.00 or whatever and then if you try to invoice a customer it does NOT give you the option to use the bulk pricing. Like if they thought off all this neat crap people like but forgot to program it into the invoicing screen.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

Now only if they had just listened to me the first time and spent a little more money for a well designed program.

:Sigh:

Okay Im Done.

Wow! That was a good scream. I think I heard you all the way here in Kentucky.

I have worked with a few POS (point of sale) programs and have never seen one yet that is great. They all try to cram a gazillion options in them and leave some of the simpler but good stuff out. The bottom dollar is always chosen and not the long term needs... I feel for you.

POS=Piont Of Sale

I understand your frustration, there are many bits of software/html/hardware I would love to throw from a height, the trouble seems to stem from two sources, those that design it dont use it, and those that code it dont understand it.
I had a training course on an ISDN TA some years ago, and the instructor started by saying "I suppose we had better get on with this bit of ****", not a good start.

At least you know the limitations of the prog, so it wont catch you unawares.

Good luck with your students, dont let them know it is (deleted) not as good as it could be!!.

Now, now, Neo....

Settle down... (Isn't it nice to have a place like this where you can act like that, and everybody will simply smile at you? )

(Even if they insist on saying stuff like...
Now, now, Neo....settle down....)

Well I am figuring out work arounds but it means a whole lot of extra work for the person maintining the inventory at this time which is me till they are trained and fully understanding this.

IMO a program that has a specific function should do all its supose to do. This program is seriously lacking in the invoicing screen.

For example: In the inventory maintance screen you are able to designate multiple special pricings with time frames or not time frames.

3 types of pricing.
A. percentage
B. Bulk
C. Time period pricing

IN the invoicing screen you are only able to give percentage pricing off.

Edit: With this in mind I am also thinking in the frame of mine of the finical tracking of this program. Those of you familiar with accounting know that total sales are imported and not only that total discounts are also imported in a seperate cash account category and so far as I can see we won't have that ability to show total discounts.

It will ultimately end up being imported as total sales only at full reg prices.

IMO this is going to make for a bad accounting summary.

So IMO a invoicing screen if it has that type of pricing for this particular program should be done in the following steps.

1. select line item
2. click discounts
3. click type of discount
4. enter discount info
5. click okay

and off it be done and good tracking purposes too also for discount totals for items.

but its goes this way in the program.

1. select line item
2. click discounts
3. percentage discounts only advailable
4. click percent amount
5. click okay.

At any time you can change the quanty amount which i have skipped cause it can be done at any time.

My question why design a program when you ahve inventory maintance and you can do all this specail pricing stuff and all the bells and whistles of retailing but when you get the invoicing screen you don't have all the optiosn or bells and whistles.

Answer. Badly desgined program of someone who has not been in the retial business. :sigh:
