I was in 2 para (English) I served 2 years in Northern Ireland and 3 months in the gulf... My career ended when I fell out of a truck an injured my elbow ... Jumped out of 20 odd planes yet a 6ft fall ended it all :-)

U.S Army Corps of Engineers. Essayons!
1984-1988 Combat Engineer
3rd Engineer Bn, 24th Mech Inf Div, Ft Stewart, GA.
ROTC byproduct, Airborne qualified, and other top-secret stuff...
Best place to learn about getting a great attitude to deal with the corporate world...
By the way, some of the female soldiers I have served with are more tougher mentally and physically than the average troops. They get my respect for hanging in there.

Ok Jman you asked for it. This was probably the funniest thing that happened to me while stationed in Germany.
A friend ( Travis ) and I were down at out fav. club called the Omnibus. Down stairs is the DJ and small bar no bright light. Upstairs is a bunch of pool tables and bright light. I ventured upstairs to see what was going on and started talking to a german friend. He said that he had some mushrooms, ( LSD type) I asked him how much then proceeded to buy some. I split them with Travis and we bought some more, we split them, and bought some more. Now we ate all of the shrooms and were having a great time. We were both laughing our a@@'s off. When the bar finally closed at 2:00 A.M. we headed back to the barricks. When we got there we decided to go to my room because I had a case of beer in the fridge. Well something happened and all of the lights were out on that side of the building. We walk into my room anyhow and boom, crash ,rattle, bang, I kicked my whole cassette tape collection all over the room. See I had just organized over 100 of them and had them sitting at the end of my coffee table. So I say I will get them tomorrow. So Travis is sitting on the couch and I am in a chair, I need a smoke so I opened a fresh softpack. well instead of opening the top I tore the whole bottom off of it. Relising what I had just done and wanting to make things right, so I tore the whole top off. Now all I have is the side of the pack with no cigerettes inside. they are now scattered on the floor with my cassette tapes. I do my best to round them up and put them on the table. Now I need a light, so I ask Travis" Got a light" he replied " No". I said Ok and left it at that but I still needed a light so I asked again " Got a light" again he replied " No". This went on for about 10 min when he said Hey lets go to my room cuse I have electricity and a stereo and a lighter there. I replied cool.
Now before I go into the next part I want to give some more info. I have already taken my shoes and socks off, so I could be comfortable, Travis and I are peaking about now so we are very far removed from reality.
So go to Travis's room and as we walked in we can see the lights from his stereo. I said "Cooooool lights", while laughing my a@@ off. So I sit on Travis's roommates bed ( he was still out partying) and Travis is on his. We are jamming some Metallica when spill my beer on the floor. Not alot just a small puddle. I asked him for a towel or something to clean it up. He responded" Don't worry about it I will get it tomorrow when I strip and wax the floor." I think ok and continue jamming. Well Travis gets the munchies and goes to his wall locker and gets a packet of cocoa that came with an MRE that he had gotten. Well he is sitting on the bed trying to open this thing. He is struggling big time cuse he is laughing so hard. finally after about 5 min of tugging on this thing boom it opens and a big cloud of cocoa fills the room. It gets on everything. He has about a table spoon full left in the pack.
About 10 min later we hear someone banging on the vending machines outside of his room. I get up to investagate, and walk through the beer, cocoa mix, in bare feet. I open the door and there stands one of our partying buddies. I look at him, lift my foot and proudly proclaim, "Look dude chocolate cover feet" I close the door and bust out laughing. We must have laughed for 45 min. the muscles in my stomach and face hurt the next day we laughed so much.
Anyhow I see the partying buddy the next day and he askes what in the he!! were you guys on last night. I proceed to tell him the story up till opening the door. By the time I was done he had cramps because he was laughing.
So that is one of my funniest stories from the service.

You must have been part of the detail the next day that almost torched down the entire place by lighting up the paste wax and going for a ride on the buffer machine doing "buffer rodeo"...
Maybe that's why I have grey hairs from my days as a platoon leader....
