No virus in 6 years is very good TonTo, but I am sorry to hear the bad news.
I haven't been hit since 4-5 years now. I hope it stays that way.

I was just checking my email before logging into TechIMO and received two emails with the Klez virus, but Norton caught 'em and fried 'em
I run live update every Saturday, and sooner if I hear of a new virus.

We just got hit with a virus a couple days ago. No damage, and the AV zapped it perfectly. Just that was the first virus in years...
Wonder if the AV running on all the web servers is why viruses are getting rarer?

Count yourself lucky. My younger brother got us the first and only time. We had done fine for years w/ no AV and I thought I had them all taught well. I was wrong!
Either through an exploit in ICQ, or through a supposed jpg he transfered from someone we got Sub7'ed. Sub& is a mean backdoor that lets people get all up in your system. After playing with him for awhile (open/shut cd, changed colors, reversed mouse etc.) the person nuked the registry. Oh yeah, they logged some passwords first and cleaned out some of his online game accounts. I was not pleased. Lesson learned we have been safe ever since.

Most viruses are actually fairly harmless. Before I had virus protection, people used to tell me I'd send them files that had virus popups insulting them. Nothing more.

I got one at a LAN party once. Some $#*$#@( had a bunch of viruses on his system and he was spreading them across the network. Everyone running WinME got it. We almost killed him.... |
