Back to court
The Ex-Wife has decided to take me back to court. Mostly over false accusations, the only legitimate complaint she has is that I have not been able to take her name off the mortgage. But in order to do that, I have to refinance. And I can't do that till I build my credit back up.
The mere thought of court has my stomach in knots. I know I have nothing to worry about since I have a really good lawyer, and a rock solid case, but I just get really nervous whenever I go there. Even when I was on Jury duty I was a nervous wreck.
Anyone else have this fear of courts? Don't know what it is about it , but I just find it very difficult to deal with.
Anyway, just had to get that out, thanks for "listening"
Bill

Take heart, Sanman! You say you have a really good lawyer and a rock-solid case. Well, the other deal is, how much do you get to do in there?
Probably, not very much...just sitting there, looking good, while the attorneys argue with the Judge.
And you might keep in mind, that courtrooms are very deliberately DESIGNED to be intimidating places...the judge sits much higher than you, which is intimidating...there's U.S. and State regalia, which enforces the feeling of the power of authority...hey, buddy, you're supposed to feel that way!
My advice is, acknowledge it all, and dismiss it by looking at all the wood, and thinking about the guy that put it there...think about what a set-up it is that the judge is put on such a pedestal like that, when in fact, he puts his pantyhose on one leg at a time.... |

I go back every couple of years. My sons father owes me $20,000 in back child support among other issues we have had to work out. Basically he has never paid any support. I hate court. I get all upset about having to go even though it's not me being accused of anything. Ties my stomach in knots and everything. They sent me the paper work to fill out to take him back again and I threw it away.
Edit- Knot's pantyhose remark makes me think. Next time I'll picture the judge up there in his undies |

| Yep! Nothing like a little inward giggle to blow off some tension!
Besides, if it shows a bit on your face, they'll wonder what you know that they don't! Edit: Picturing 82-year-old judge in his undies....EEEEWWWWWWW!!!

3 places I hate to go to: Police Station, Hospital, Court.
3 places I love to go: Bar/Restaurant, Boating/Fishing, Nature Trekking.
Go with Knots thoughts. It'll lighten up the whole ordeal.

LOL Knot, I will keep that in mind. When I got my divorce, I was only there for about 1 1/2 hours, and most of that was in the waiting area while the lawyers worked out the details. I only had to go before the judge to swear to the facts.
I think most of this was the workings of her family. They have become very vindictive since the divorce. And to make matters worse, I work with my ex brother- in- law. Thankfully I usually only have to see him on Mondays when we turn in our time. But we just don't talk to each other and that works great for me. |

Prttybean: You can get a judgement, but the courts can't usually make him pay. You can probably sic a collection agency on him for a cut of the $20,000, and they will make his life miserable until he pays. In California, the courts would automatically garnish his wages. Dunno about Wisconsin.
Sanman: You might be able to sue her family in civil court, if you can somehow show that they purposely screwed you around. Remember: you weren't married to them. Unless they have money, though, it wouldn't be worth it.
Oh, yeah...Shahani, I'm with you, bud!

Cadd, No it wouldn't be worth it. Wouldn't be able to prove it anyway. They're all just a bunch of flakes. I just keep counting down till my youngest turns 18. 10 years 9 months, then I can officially be done with the whole bunch of them.
Prettybean, not sure how it works where you live, but my fiancee gets child support from her ex-boyfriend and the DCYF, or Health and Human services,(not sure what they call it there) is taking it out of his check each month. You might want to give them a call to see if they can help.

This is a good Child suppoty state.
1. Wages garnished when he works
2. Lein on all his property
3. Progressively higher jail terms every three years
So nothing he owns is in his name and he works under the table I can't win.
