Gall Bladder Infection

Just got back from the hospital with my dad. He had incredible stomach pains today, we had to call the ambulance to take him to the hospital. Test results showed a possibility of gall stones and a slight inflamation which might require surgery, we're going back for more testing in the coming days, Im worried, does anyone have any experience with such an inflamation ?

My mom had gall stones. They took her gallbladder out over 40 years ago, and (except for occassional dyspepsia, which may or may not be related) she hasn't missed it.

But isn't the gall bladder required for digesting food ?

My gallbladder got removed when I was 19. Not for gallstones, but for not functioning anymore.
Yuck.
But, the surgery was the smartest thing I've ever done. I felt so much better after that. PM me if you have questions about anything!

Side effects of getting your gallbladder out is usually that if you eat something REALLY REALLY greasy, then it may go straight through you.
But that's all.

Years ago my mother had problems with gall stones and my dad took her to several different doctors, who thought it was all in my mother's head! The pain she experienced was far worse than bearing three children, as she later told me. Finally my parents found a doctor who correctly diagnosed the problem. I was a little kid then, but I'll never, ever forget the pain & frustration my mom went through. I'll keep my fingers crossed that all ends well for you father.

I think you may be thinking of kidney stones GroundZero3. Maybe not, it could be for both.
