Excellent. Now make sure he takes lots of fluids to prevent recurrence. Just water is good. Or juices. Atleast 2-3 liters a day (8-10 glasses).

Cadd: Yup. The vodka works. These stones are extremely painful. I'd go easy on the water though. No sense diluting the medicine, is there? For me, beer works fine in keeping stones and such at bay. Cleanses the system. Reduces toxins in the blood stream. Reduces chlolesterol (sp?) as a side benefit. Have to drink it chilled to 45 degrees though for maximum effect.

That sounds like good news to me, Club_Med.

I have never heard of vodka being useful in prevention of gallstones...too drunk to eat?
Rarely too drunk to eat here.

...apparently naturopaths recommend vodka to prevent gallstones. Never heard a surgeon recommend it though
Perhaps consult a Russian surgeon???

I don't have much faith in naturopaths, BTW. And my vodka consumption is totally unrelated to any attempts at staying healthy, so if it doesn't work, I wont be disappointed.
