I am never posting here again!!!
From my old machine that is. I am sure you all were horribly upset to think I would be leaving =Þ
My trusty AMD 450 MHz system is being put to pasture (going to GF). It has served me well since '98. However, the time came to upgrade. I am now cruising in style with my AMD XP 1800+, EPOX 8KA+ mobo, 512 DDR, and Visiontek GeForce2 w/ 32DDR (nothing special I know, but it gets the job done),all in a nice new screwless case. I threw my 40 GB 7200 RPM HD, 12x10x Plex, 16X Pioneer, and Hollywood+ decoder card from my old machine to complete the build. Total cost of upgrade (with my AMD 450 machine still kicking) $500 w/shipping!!!!. Not too shabby!
Just thought I'd post to celebrate. It's the first real build I have been able to do for myself. Everything else has been for friends and family (I couldn't afford the upgrade).
However, all this greatness in not without its issues. Please see these threads to get me through these troubled times. Techimo Page Loading Probelm Did I damage my IDE controller??? |

Whaddaya mean "nothing special"? Lots of folks would kill their own mother for a system like that!
My Epox 8KHA+ only has the XP1600+, but I went for the Gf3 Ti500. And, yes, my mother is still alive!

You realize, of course, that this topic will come back to haunt you every time the new box goes down & you have to use the old one to come on & ask something!!! |

Gomer,
Where did you go on the net to get those prices? The AMD 1800, the MoBo, the case, etc. ??? I feel like a real piker with my AMD 900mhz, 40gig HD, 512RAM, 200mhz fsb, GeForce2 64mb 200mX. I mixed and matched from all over the place. I knew I ended up with an older MoBo when I saw there were two ISA slots! I paid $600 for the lot.
