RANT / detroit

/rant

I'm utterly appauled at the recent actions at a pistons/raptors game, What happened there is about the most disrespectful thing I've ever heard of. The ignorance and utter lack of respect for a nation is extremely horrific considering recent events.

For those that haven't heard, the "fans" at the game started booing during the singing of the Canadian national anthem.

Maybe the next time I go to a red wings game I can start burning american flags in the stands since that's equal as far as I'm concerned, both are a national symbol. No respect from those idiots at that game, you DO NOT boo during the singing of anyones national anthem, this is unforgivable in my books and I'm sure many people in Canada feel the same way. you do NOT defile something that represents a nation, you DO show the respect of singing along or at least standing. There is NO excuse for showing the kind of disrespect shown at this game. I surely hope this does not represent all of the people of the US.

/End rant

Sorry for the rant, had to unload a bit, and note, I would be equally angered if it was the other way around.

/EDIT

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- The nasty tone was set when Detroit Pistons fans booed loudly during the singing of O Canada.
That is all that is mentioned of this, taken from Here

This is a clear example of why I never attend games.
It's not the teams, it's the fans. Remember that "fans" is short for FANATICS. No way do I want to be associated, involved, or confined with a bunch of fanatics. Ok, not every one is a problem. Just enough of them to make me want to avoid their "antics."

I agree with you, that was distgusting, and I am ashamed of those cretins who had attended that game, and was so disrespectful of the Canadian Anthem. I will say this, I am from or near Auburn Hills, Michigan, and they are NOT all like that here. From what I have seen in the past, at those games, they were probably getting, or already drunk. Not that I am excusing them, because there is no excuse for those actions, but I do appologize to any and all Canadian citizens for the actions of those resposable for the disrespectful display during that game.

I second that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are not all that way at all and I'm ashamed to have such ignorant jerks around to be associated with! There's absolutely no excuse for such disrespectful actions and I sincerely apologize for what they did to your beautiful country!

Im shocked people would treat a country like that, weather they are locals or not, that is total disrespect IMO. You are right to rant on this.

Why not do a little letter to the editor in the local paper to make this rant known to the locals.

I really can't think of anything to reply with other then, I know not all Americans are Idiots like the 1/2 of that arena. I just wish that everyone in the world would think before they act, or say something they don't mean, It sure would save a lot of arguing, Fighting and people being upset.

NEO - With all the radio stations up here they have all been showing thier disaproval at this. I'm sure papers will be on it by the next couple days.

It happens all the time, from both sides, and it's sick! Game three of the stanly cup playoffs between Vancouver and Detroit, Sunday just pased. The Vancouver fans started booing the American anthem. I cringed. I mean, it wasn't very louad at all, but it was still noticable and very disrespectful. I guess the unity that eveyone was fealing a few months ago is gone. very sad.

This is just wrong. That an adult would go out in public to an international event hosted by their country and act in such a manner....

Going to go vent on something...

I'm back.

I have worked at the Palace of Auburn Hills. The games are more a giant bar than a sports event. Beer concessions uses eight or ten employment agencies just to get enough workers. And the sales are such that doubling that number wouldn't hurt.

To any and all citizens of the great nation of Canada: I apologize. For myself, and indirectly for the rest of the citizens of the United States. Please except my apology.
