Who do we let in? Who learns of our deepest fears and greatest aspirations? Why do we bury emotions into the depths of our souls where they fester and cry to come out? You need to cry before you can know why you’re smiling.

Feel your feelings. Embrace them. Share them with others. For God’s sake - live life!

Listen to music. Feel it. Shut your eyes and let it envelop you. Listen to the lyrics, because they always pertain to you. Cry for no reason - you’ll feel better and never know why. Remember that art is everywhere. Write poetry that doesn’t rhyme. Write stories about love and life. Smile at people in the elevator. Mend bridges. Sympathize with the poor. Sympathize with the rich. Sing in the car. Listen to Beethoven. Don’t try to figure out why you’re here, just know that you are.

Laugh at inappropriate times. Don’t make fun of the slow kid. Don’t envy the cool one. Watch movies and look for their message. Pick up your friend at the airport. Listen to bagpipes and notice how the hair on your arms stands on ends. Tell your brothers and sisters you love them. Call your parents because you never know when they’ll be gone. Take your mother to the movies. Miss your father when he’s gone. Let the bagpipes play.

Say your prayers before you go to bed - because He is listening. Forgive your father. Forgive yourself. Let violins soothe your soul and steady your nerves. It isn’t your fault all the time. There aren’t always answers. Make your free throws. Learn from your mistakes. Conjure up memories of your past and lock them away in your heart. Don’t make excuses, but don’t blame yourself for everything.

Fall in love and hear the song of birds outside your bedroom window. Cherish the brook running next to your house. Tell her you love her on a whim. Cry in front of her and don’t feel ashamed. Never sleep with you back to her’s. Kiss in public. Promise her the sunset.

Make your bed. Cry tears of joy. Realize you’re not alone. Don’t fight the pain - fight the good fight. Forgive yourself. Listen to the lyrics. Share the sunsets that lie within you. Love yourself. Live life.
