Outdoors Cruelty to Animals and My Property! (snakes)

I'm Pissed...

My father owns a townhouse, which he rents out. We have had 3 young (20 – 25) tenants in there for the past 2 and a half years. They’ve been great tenants until recently. The last three months, they were paying rent late and disturbing the neighbours. So last month I went up to the place at the beginning of the month just to remind them that rent was due. When I got there the door was wide open and the inside of the house was trashed. I knew they didn’t move out yet cause all of their furniture was still there, so I figured they had a party that got out of hand. I figured they were upstairs sleeping so I started yelling from the bottom of the stairs cause I wanted them to get up. Then one of them walked in from the front door. (I’ll stop with the complete details now ). To make a long story short, the guy got mad at his girlfriend and went crazy on the house. So I left and discussed it with my dad, He said, “Everyone screws up, tell him to fix it up and pay the rent and we’ll let him stay. Everyone deserves a second chance son.” So, I go back to the house to let the guy know. In the time that I was gone, he trashed it even more. Grrrrr…. I was pissed. The laws in BC Canada protect the tenant more than the landlord. So, we are out 2 months rent, Roughly $2000 in damages and I have to store his personal belongings for 90 days, at that point I can do whatever I want with them. To boot, the guy left his snake behind. I’m not sure but I think he’s a Burmese Python. Still a baby. So I brought him home yesterday and fed him. How can anyone leave a living thing behind to starve and die, it’s just brutal. I would really love to find this guy and… Well, you know, but my family and fiancée are trying to keep me out of it because this guy is gang related (I only found out about this the other day, from one of the neighbours). I haven’t been this upset in a long time. I’m not sure what I would do if I ever saw this guy again. Guess I will have to keep my cool though, Jail time isn’t worth it.

Is there anyone here who might know something about snakes or even a good resource where I can find what kind of snake this little guy is?

Blech.
Snakes.
But I would never leave my pet behind to die, even if it were a snake.
I love animals of all types, even if I don't want to snuggle up with them all.

You should be able to recover some of your money with the snake, but I have no idea how much. You could call your local news desk (TV or newspaper) and see if they're willing to do a story on this jerk who abandoned his pet. Maybe get some sympathy and contact with someone who could help you out as well.

Here is a simple info sheet regarding pythons should you decide to keep it--- http://www.newenglandreptile.com/CareInfo/CareBurm.html

Pythons get quite large and can be expensive to feed and house---(ive had 3- 2 over 15 feet) easy to identify by their markings, this is a good sized Burmese in this pic: http://www.petoftheday.com/archive/2...bruary/13.html
There is lots of info online---try google

Do you have a pic of it. Post it here or send to rlkuykendall@suscom.net. My son is trying to establish a reptile rescue business.

Thanks for the replies.

JnMHayes: Yeah, I thought about that, but I think I'll leave it for a last resort.

o doubt CERuppel, Good ridence

Thanks for the links tkop, I still don't know a lot about snakes ut the markings look similar.

I tried some pet stores, that's where I got the idea that he might be burmese python. Some offered money for him and some offered just to take him. The container he is in is marked "for breeding only" I feed im a medium sized mouse that I bought from the pet store.

I don't have a pic yet Korgul but I will try and get one tonight. Wish your son lotsa luck, and I'll send over the picture when I can.

Thanks for all the replies.

Thank you sooooo much for not showing the picture here! I'm absolutely terrified (phobia) of snakes, even pictures of them. That's one of the main reasons I remain living in Michigan, snakes hate winters worse that I do!
