Anyone ever become involed with Amway or the sister Companies?

Thursday Night: I get a phone call, its my friend Nick who graduated with me in high school last year. and he says hey Jason I have someone who would like to talk to you. The guy was named Steve and he gets on the phone and says hey Jason do you have an open mind and looking for a second income? im like yeah sure. he’s like Well Nick referred us to you and said you were a sharp young guy who we would be really interested in. He mention the website http://www.te-international.com/ I believe. I agreed to a meeting this Saturday. Now note they would not tell me anything but Learning leadership skills. I asked Nicks girlfriend about it and she wasn't really allowed to say what he did. Which sparked my curiosity.

Here is what I got from the website.

(manufacture)---(some company)---(some company)--(consumer)
and they want to take the middle men out, reducing cost

so it would be like this:

(manufacture)---(e-commerence)---(consumer)

Saturday Afternoon: I met at a hotel at 2 pm like we agreed and my friend nick was there. Great to see the guy since I really haven't seen him since graduation, but I talk to him online occasionally. So the meeting lasted about 40 minutes. But I was talking to different guy named Ken. they guy basically said the same thing Steve said to me Thursday night. So I agreed to meet Tuesday night (last night) to find out more

Tuesday night: I meet Nick and ken at a hotel with another guy named Chris who was new and finding out the same thing. So we drive to some guys house. he explains to me and Chris the process. Basically you refer a lot of people and that makes you money. you should refer about 3-5 new people a week. (see pic 1 and 2 for more info) And Chris asked the question. this sounds just like Amway. The guy basically ignored the comment and continued to answer the rest of the question. I told Ken something is just not right about the way this works. Ken said that’s normal and to go online and look up quixstar. I asked the question this sounds like a pyramid scheme and you could tell that this question/comment struck a nerve with him. but he was clam and explained that it wasn't. So two hours later they finish explaining it to me, give me some reading material and I go home. I show my mom the pics I posted and the first thing out of her mouth was this is "Amway!" I still had no clue what Amway was. so I got on to google.com and the first website i click on was an anti-Amway site. that’s basically all i could find. and a interesting thing popped up on the website i was looking at. the name quixstar. Supposedly quixstar is the sister site of Amway

now im curious why didn't they mentioned that they were a sister site of Amway? I know the money is legit but I thought it was pretty funny when they tried to impress the people in the room with titles such as "platuim Member" and Emerald and also Diamond and so forth,.

anyone involved with this on this board? my boss is but when he mentions he goes on the subject for about 4 hours on one simple quick questions.

Right now im saying that this is not for me

Multi level marketing could be a wild adventure, read alittle about Amway/Quixstar here: http://www.mlmsurvivor.com/stewart_v_gooch_comm.htm

My refelx is to say go to save for web and set the quality levels where you want. But I don't remember if that was in 5.5

3 words, multi level marketing.
Any thing that requires"recuiting 3-5 (or what ever number)
people per week is the same leapord with different spots.
I wouldn't invest any money in this. Time is a different thing but when people hear "Amway, you must recruit people under you so you make money, I hear pyramid scheme.
Amway sells a product(s), so theoretically it's not a pyramid scheme, but damm close in my book.
Think of it this way, are you going to bust your behind to make someone else rich, (and hope someone else does it for you)or would you rather rely on yourself?
You sound wise by saying it's not for you.

Interesting that you should point out the pyramid scheme similarity desmoct. I know that Amway has been investigated at least twice onthat idea. The results have been that it is JUST inside the legal edge!!

IMO
Any business that is unwilling to tell a potential new member what they sell or represent up front is automatically suspect. When the only way they will do so is in a "private" mystery meeting makes them doubly suspect!!
I have been approached several times the same way that they approached you GZ3. I tell them the above. *poof* gone

Yep GZ, I got the same cloak and dagger sales pitch..
Quote:
now im curious why didn't they mentioned that they were a sister site of Amway?
And when I looked at the guy and said, This is Amway isn't it?
He got mad, and choked on the admission..
Long story short ,, at the beginning of the pitch I said to him in casual conversation.. "One of the ugliest things I've ever seen is a salesman when he's falling flat on his pitch and gets mad the person he's pitching cause they ain't buying.."

I ended our meeting with .. "What did I tell you about getting mad? Good day".
