Plz help! Math question.
i have a math test tomorrow. of course i have studied non whatsoever so im gonna do bad on it but i got a question.
in my book it has problems like the following:
||v||=something blah blah where v is like a vector or something
i know that |x| means absolute value of the variable but what does ||x|| with two bars on each side mean? thanks a lot, i needed the help...
ps. anyone know of a good math homework help (alg. III, trig, precalculus) website that is free? i could really use one as my teacher is the stereotypical teacher from hell (he isnt mean but he should be fired for lack of teaching skills). my book isnt much help at all either. thanks!

the book does not show an example with the ||x||??? Its been a while since I done math but im inclined to guess its similar to |-x|
So not totally sure. So don't quote me on that.

Edit: Im not finding much, im looking around math.com that is the only place i know of that is half way decent.

it means the length of the vector

I just re-verified it, it is the length of the vector
An advanced way of saying that:
||x|| = sqrt (x.x) [square root of x dot x]
quoted from a dusty linear algebra book
