Hey Doc, since you said you worked in the power generating industry, that schedule sounds like a shutdown?Uhhh. I HATED those things when I worked in the steel plant.. good money though..

Thats the way it always went with us, 24/7 WFO till it got back going again.
Here was my 12 hr rotating shiftthat I worked for 16 years that went like this:
work 4 nights 7pm to 7am (monday to thursday, get off friday morning)
off 2 days Sat & Sun
work Days 7am to 7pm for 3 days(Mon, Tue Wed)
off 1 day (Thurs)
come in Friday, work 7 pm to 7 am (Fri Sat, Sun)
get off mon. morning 7 am, (off Tue & Wed)
Back on days Thurs, 7am to 7 pm (Thur Fri Sat Sun)
Get off Sunday night at 7 pm, off Mon Tue Wed Thur Fri Sat Sun
back on nights 7p to 7A Monday night, start all over again.
After I left,it took me abot 3 months(at least) to get to where my sleeping patterns were "normal" (no waking up in the middle of the night at 2 am thinking ok, time to be awake now..)
I had perpetual jet lag..
on the days that I got off at 7 am, if I stayed awake, that put up for like 31 hrs at a time. But if I slept more than about 3 hrs, I couldn't go to sleep that night..
I would like to know how many years that 16 took off my life working that shift schedule
