A Perfect Job

Watching a documentary onthe Discovery Channel about the '91 "most brutal storm to hit the northest" which was The Perfect Storm of the movie.

The Andrea Gale from Glouchester MA was the subject of the film, but their were many ships caught in that storm that extended d from the Maritimes, to the 'Boston States' (New England)throgh the carolinas to Florida and beyond.

Astonishing work by the U S Coast Guard to rescue the people caught in the maelstorm, many in small boats.

Remembered the Coast Guard was the hardest branch f the Armed Services, with the longest elisted term (six years).

There is a Coast Guard Academy whre a College can be earned along with Commision, I believe.

And in Castien ME, there is a Maritime College where the Topp Catt and I visited. Ft. Schyler NY has a Maritime Academy (I think)still open, unless that's the Coast Guard school. Wish I know more.

But watching the semi-doc + interviews with the survivers and the Coast Guard personnel that went out to sea to bring the sailors back, it seemed that they had a wonderful occupation and that for a young person considering their options, this might be one of them.

DOOOOG

The Army National Guard is also 6 years

Yeah, the Coast Guard definately worked hard that fateful night and any other time. I read the book, The Perfect Storm and saw the movie. Both are well done.

Just got the book after seeing the Doc.

Nice and short.

My GF says she saw the movie on an airplane .

Why would they show a disaster movie on an airplane ?

DOOOOG

P.S. Says it was awful. I'll rent a DVD and see for myself. Still remember a review of The Poseidan Adventure , "a disaster movie that is itself a disaster". And that was a real good movie with a young Gene Hackman as a Preacher (!)
