My Vacation Spot Named #1 Spring Break Location

The Travel Channel named Panama City Beach Florida as the No.1 Spring Break Location, Worldwide.

A dubious honor at best '' Still it's a great spot. 20+ Miles of pure white sand, the water reflects the name given the area "The Emerald Coast"

They have the worlds largest dance club, Club LaVela, capacity some 20,000 !

I prefer to avoid the "Miracle Strip" area where the spring breakers go, reason is the traffic is maddenly slow, that and morons ''

Here's a overhead shot of my Jet Ski spot there, called Shell Island & St. Andrews Park
Every day the dolphins will come up to any boat that parks in front of Shell Island, begging for a now illegal handout. ->>

Looks nice. Nice spot for watersports indeed. Is the sun always shining there as they say?

Think its difficult to get to work again after a week spending there.

During the summer, rain comes in "showers" as they call it.
Usually a 15 minute rain in the late afternoon around 4:00pm EDT then POOF gone, the humidity goes to 100% the streets smoke from the moisture.

I can't recall having my vacation ruined from the rain, that is a whole day of it.

The thing to do there is to stay up very late, sleep till noon, grab some chow and hit the water on the Ski at about 2:30pm CDT.
The sun shines till around 9:00, 6-1/2hrs on the ski is usually enough.

Got a secret to keep from turning into BBQ, suntan lotion called BullFrog 36, the clear stuff in the round bottle lasts for almost 3 days

Jump a Jet and head on over

Doc

You are most certainly right about the beautiful beaches!!! I've stayed on Dauphin Island and Orange Beach in Alabama, Perdido Key, Ft. Walton and Destin in Fla. Guess I'll have to add another hour or so next time and check it out just so I can see for myself how much sugary white sand I can stand. Hmmm.... someday....

Thanks for taking my thoughts back to Fla. I do have to say that I prefer getting up before sunrise and walking barefoot in the surf with a hot cup of coffee watching the sun rise. Nap in the hot afternoon, then back for sunset! In between times speant in the waves or pool or jacuzzi or kitchen...lol Gotta love that Baked Grouper!

Reminds me of the many times I have been in Key West. Love the water love the scenery. But man, it gets old.

1st time: Way cool, spring break.
2nd time: Yeah it's pretty cool.
3rd time: Ok
4th time: Fantasy Fest....Whoa Nelly
5th time: Getting old
6th time: Really old

Sad part is, I go there and get paid to go. Free flight, free room, extra money. To touristy. If that is a word.

You can also predict the rain pattern from the geography in FL.

In SOBE (South Beach), Miami, we got hit at 11 AM--every day.

Gulf side in Siesta key or Sanibal at 2 PM--every day.

Must wait til 4 Pm to hit the panhandle !

One summer in San Marco Island, we had to turn on the car heater. When I called MoM in NYC--100F !

Interesting Facts:
FL almost got split into two States.
AL and FL once went to war--against each other.
H.L. Menken called FL "the worst State in the Union".
The Everglades is not a swamp--it is a very wide river.
The Manetee is related to--the elephant.
