My computer is fast enough!

It just hit me I'm not looking for any speed upgrades. This t-bird 1.0 at 1.0 is plenty fast for gaming, encoding mp3s, etc. What do I need with an XP and 512mb of RAM???

System specs:
Athlon t-bird 1.0ghz
256mb crucial DDR
GeForce 3 ti200 (also fast enough)
SiS 735 chipset
WD 400BB HDD

WAIT! I just looked at Eccp, and I'm only getting 600,000 iterations per second. Forget what I just said, I need to find an XP cheap, quick. And mabye some new speakers, a new power supply, hmmm... kind of noisy... mabye I need to watercool, oh, and a DVD drive would be nice. Oh yeah, and a TV card.

Anyone noticed that computers are like a permanent money pit? No matter how good you've got it, it could always be just a bit better...

Oh why oh why???

Sam

there's already 120GHz processors but it's all about marketting..........

just check a local parts place for stuff, ordering stuff off the net is not always a good deal. out of all website i have seen which ship to Canada, the computer parts place about 5 blocks from my house sells parts for $10 less usualy.......
i get 750,000 thingies per second in ECCP. running in the background with several other things

I don't even want to check my old invoices to see how much I spent from the first computer to the actual one. Must be quite a few thousands.

Project cars are also money pits.

First computer: 386-16 mhz for 250$.

But the money pit part really isn't the point. How is it that my computer is plenty fast for everything I do, but one little thing (eccp) makes me want to upgrade???

EDIT: My project car is a 66 VW bug. Big big hole in which to toss money .

My first home system was a 486dx/2 66, or does the commadore 64 count?

And I will not even think about the costs of all the upgrades and new systems since... I REFUSE!!!!!! (arrrrgggghhhhh!!!)

But seriously, why are you even thinking of upgrading, without offering some of us less fortunate ones a crack at your left overs???

I'm content with my 1Ghz Duron (at 1.06Ghz with a 266FSB). It does everything increadibly fast, and I have yet to see a slowdown in a game. Plus I leave it alone with ECCP for a minute or two and it's done 10 points! I like it a lot. I will try to OC it more (It booted fine at 1.2Ghz with a 266fsb, but due to some probs in sandra it won't work that fast). But thats free speed. I'm happy right now, because I don't have slow downs. When new games come out, I will have to update. Till then I'm happy though.
