SAME HERE.
IMHO heres why: they grew from 40,000
members to 80,000 members in the last year.
everytime theres 650+ members online at the same time, their servers are slow to almost stopped..
they didnt buy enough new servers to carry the load. servers crashed.
but thats my guess only, coiuld be a hack
or a ddos attack.
ive been warning people this whole last week, dont pm me at anandtech, they are
getting slow to stopped when 650+ members online at the same time. so im not surpised by this crash. all the symptoms were there for at least 1 week..

I just tried them, I had no problems. At the time they had 613 users online.
No problems in the community forums.

Send a message via AIM to LiLRiceBoi
Supposedly their 9 servers are ok. Just the load balancer got hacked. But Anand and the mods havent said anything yet.

Don't know about any hack, but they are up and running OK now.

Checked thier news for any "Server down" type message, and found this:

************************************************** *
Putting the servers to the test - Apr 4, 2002 2:12 AM - Anand Lal Shimpi
Ever since we published our first DB test results in our Xeon/Athlon MP reviews from last year we've been asked to repeat them using faster platforms and CPUs. With our recent server upgrade we had a few reasons to look into upgrade options and thus decided to turn the benchmarks we were going to use internally into a review for you all to read as well.

It's easy to find out what's the fastest desktop CPU, but what about the fastest server CPU? And does Intel's Hyper Threading really live up to its claims of up to a 30% boost in server performance? We also look at the performance of the new dual channel DDR solution from Intel, the E7500. All of this is compared to AMD's latest and greatest - the Athlon MP 2000+. The name of the article is the Database Server CPU Comparison - Athlon MP vs Hyper Threading Xeon, enjoy
************************************************** **

Guess that old servers are not the problem...
