And still nothing has been done about airport security

It's been 6 months since the attacks. One would think this was enough time to come up with and implement new and effective security measures at airports.

Quote:
...Staff at 32 airports failed to spot 70% of the knives, 30% of the guns and 60% of the dummy explosives carried by secret investigators in the months after September 11. The potential weapons were carried in clothing or stuffed into luggage...
The Article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/september1...674230,00.html

Scary and disturbing.

Yup, it's all just eye candy folks..
The national guard with their M-16's and stuff looking all mean.

What about the baggage screener a while back that was nodded out at the machine at 7 in the morning when a security supervisor came thru and noticed them having a wee little cat nap.

When these things happen, they need to yank those responsible RIGHT THEN and replace them.
Give 'em a couple weeks off without pay, then re-train them, and if they do it again, adios my friend, don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.

I don't know if the government taking over the security here in the U.S will make a difference. The pay was dismal for security screeners and I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for.

What do security personnel get for a wage in Europe and in the U.K? Does the responsibility for security reside with the airlines or is it controlled by the respective governments?

As far as I know, here in Austria, the security at airports is controlled and carried out by the government and it's organs. And I hope it stays that way.

Profit oriented private businesses are the wrong people to put in charge our lives and safety.
