What do you think this system would cost to build? My ex-Fiance just bought it from Gateway. When she left, the Dell stayed with me. She wanted to get a new PC so she picked this one out. I wanted to build one, but again she was a bit worried about it. I dunno. It looks like a good system. She got it for around $999.00.

Looks ok, I would've held out for a bigger monitor - and better vid card - but the gf2mx isn't that bad.

I like building them better, give me a grand (or you) and we're talking killer.

just my thinkin.

I wanted to build her one. But she is really picky on looks and "NAMEBRAND". Give me $1000.00 and man oh man......

The only advantage IMO of going 'namebrand' is the warranty.

With a grand and some shopping...

It's looks like a decent system for her needs. Yeah, she could have bumped up the video card but she doesn't game or anything. When we were together and got this Dell, she liked it until she and I found out they stiffed us on the Motherboard. We got an SDRAM instead of the DDRAM board. So she freaked about that. So she went with Gateway and she will be getting that system April 1st. Just wanted some opinions.
FYI: The Warranty was her biggest concern.

Nice system, but as mentioned before I would go for a 17" monitor or are we talking about TFT flatpanel? Then its quite a good deal indeed!!
