The next time you visit the doctor ...

Remember this factoid.

Statistically Speaking

Physicians in the US: 700,000.
Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year: 120,000.
Accidental deaths per physician: 0.171
(U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services)

Gun owners in the US: 80,000,000.
Accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups): 1,500.
Accidental deaths per gun owner: 0.0000188

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than
gun owners!

FACT: Not everyone has a gun, but nearly everyone has at least one Doctor.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand.

As a public health service, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear that the shock might cause people to seek medical attention.....

(My apologies if this has been posted before, Cadd. )

I had a surgery over Christmas. The surgeon told me I had a hernia, and needed to go ahead and have the operation the next day. I was in pain, so I believed him. (He's a doctor, of course I trusted him with this!) So, he went in and did the surgery. When I came to, I was told that there was no hernia. They said that there was a cyst however, and that he removed it. I found out that he did NOT send the cyst to a lab to get checked. Two weeks later, I returned to him, because my cut was running, red, and painful. Very infected. He looked at me, and told me I was wasting my time coming to him for that, and handed me a guaze pad and told me that was all I needed. I went home, and was just putting on ointment and cleaning it with peroxide. It got worse. A month later, my husband took me to a doctor that is retired, but is our friend because I was running a 101 degree fever and I didn't want to go the ER. He gave me antibiotics and put me on bed rest. It took two doses of antibiotics to get well. That surgery was over Christmas, and I've just now healed.....
He is a scary example of a surgeon....

Must be why they call what they do "pratice".

My wife had a tuballigation after our 4th son. Everything was fine for about 1 month afterwards. Then she started to gain alot of weight in her belly area, it was very sore, and she also was running a fever. They said that they had to back in to do exploritory surgery. Not sure what they found but the problem went away after that.

I could go on with horror stories about Dr's but it would prolly use up the bandwidth.

I think the next time I go to a Dr I will take a gun and a print out of this thread. Then explain the situation to him in real nice terms.

You don't have to tell me about doctors!!!!!!!

My "family doctor" gave me an excess of anti-biotics and ruined my kidneys. Now , I've just started on hemo-dialysis. Wish I could prove it in a court of law...

My husband *is* a lawyer. *GRIN* (But, he's a public defender.... doesn't that put him above the rest? He's apparently NOT in it for money!)

Remember, half of all doctors graduated in the lower 50% of their class....

Thanks, guys. My ex-wife delivered our second child (& the first) with normal birth. But three days after the second one, she was sick as a dog. They'd left a huge sponge in her & she was so sore she couldn't tell. They cured the imfection, but it evidently recurred. She didn't trust the first Dr. now so went to another Dr. who told her she had gonorrhea, which was BS. He gave us both huge injections of penicillin (or something) that almost knocked me down. !5 minutes later, I was going into shock, out in the parking lot. When I recovered I just went home. A few days later (my ex-wife had not!) She went to a third doctor who treated her successfully for staph. The second guy had skipped town in the meantime. I could go on, but this is minor stuff compared to some here!
