The Great Floods

It's raining and raining and raining. It is flooded everywhere. Several roads are closed. I actually crossed standing water on the highway I drive to get to work today. It made me a little nervous, because halfway through it was up to the top of my tire, and I realized I shouldn't probably be going through it. But, everyone else was too......... Anyway, the police probably just didn't know about that spot yet to close it down. It may be closed tonight, which means I don't know how I"m gonna get home!!!!!

That sucks

I used to live in KY many years ago (4,5,6 years old). I still remember it though. I remember in the middle of the night, going into my dad's window-less study in the middle of the house because there was a tornado warning....

raining here tooo.... I'm sure maryland would appreciate some of that water... they're in a worse drought than VA.

Hope you're ok. Call when you get home to let me know you're ok!

Err ok... I'll settle with a message on TIMO
Take care, and take back roads home if it's on higher ground

Just be careful when you go home. Leave early if you can and slow down. Ya don't want to start hydroplanning down the road.

I know that PA could use some of that rain. We are also in a very bad drought right now. Although it is raining outside right now and they are expecting a couple of inches it will not really do anything to ease the drought.

Be safe

Speak for your side of the state Korgul. Western PA is doing just fine
Its weird how almost the entire state is in a drought right now and has forced water conservation going on but All around Pittsburgh is fine. Must be all that pollution from steel mills around here.

LOL, this happens every year during flash flood time. For those non-Arizonans, since we live in a (reclaimed) desert, when it rains we flood pretty quickly and it goes away just as fast.

Every time there is some 4x4 or Neon in the middle of a wash, water to its door and the driver is sitting on the roof. THIS CAN HAPPEN IN SUCCESSIVE DAYS!

The worst part the person most likely passed a "Do not enter when flooding" sign and go around baracades just to enter the wash. Then the firemen have to go out and make a very dangerous rescue. Lukily its always caught on the 5:00 news.

I live in KY right now and woke to a basement full of water. Thats also where my bedroom is. I didnt notice it til I headed off to the bathroom at 3:00 am and it started sloshing. At first I thought my cat knocked over his water bowl then it got deep. And it was cold too. Kind of a shock when your half a sleep.

Its not my house. I am only staying temporarily but I think its time for a French Drain. Anyone ever do one?

The thing is Mead we have the mountains that seperate us. This keeps all of the moisture on your side and leaves us with nothing, including snow. About the only way we get precip. is if it comes up from the south.

They said that some of the reservoirs here are 14 ft below normal.

Are you close to Greensburg?

Had a flooding problem here a couple years back when I was in the pizza biz. The rivers between Rochester (where I worked) and Pontiac (where I lived) had all flooded the roads...

Had to detour nearly thirty miles to get home (five mile drive usually).

Next day I found out the local pizza shop had lost three drivers in the floods...
