Kids Weird Symantec email

That's right! I expect many of you subscribe to the regular Symantec Anit-Virus email newsletter.

I just received one from David Banes, there was no message in the subject slot and the email contained about 70 email addresses!!

I've emailed a copy back to him but has anyone else received something like this from Symantec?

Are you sure the email came from Symantec? Someone might be trying to spoof the email from line. Because I don't think Symantec would be giving out a bunch of email addresses like that.

Sounds like a mime format digest. Are you one a mailing list for techsupport or something like that?

That's what I thought at first, that it wasn't from Symantec but some sort of virus email type thingy!

But looking at the email's properties it all looks in order. I haven't received any email back from Symantec yet.

No, The only mailing list at Symantec I am on is for theie regular anti-virus bulletin.

I got that too. I deleted it. I wish I would have saved it now. I would have liked to have looked at the header.

I've only ever had one email that in fact contained a virus, and the email addresses that were in the property part were kinda strange. My Inoculate anti-virus spotted it for me so I was able to deal with it - yeah, I wish I had kept the header on that one!!

Here is what a headder in my MIME digest looks like.
In order to see it I have to click on the title line of the digest.
But I"m sure pmail does it different than outlook.

Got a reply from Symantec yesterday apologising for the email which they had sent in error - oops!!

That's that mystery cleared up then.
