LINDOWS WINS!! (so far...)

Just heard it on TechTV news

Micro$oft lost in it's case against Lindows, the judge raised serious questions about M$ being able to trademark the word "windows"

Quote:
"Although Lindows.com certainly made a conscious decision to play with fire by choosing a product and company name that differs by only one letter from the world's leading computer software program," Coughenour wrote, "one could just as easily conclude that in 1983 Microsoft made an equally risky decision to name its product after a term commonly used in the trade to indicate the windowing capability of a GUI (graphical user interface)."
A few more news links from Lindows.com

Thats

Lost~ Is Lindows actually open source? I know they promote some other Open Source projects but is the actual Lindows code Open Source? Just interested & you seem to know a fair bit about the product.

Regards

Eddy

~strange~ I was kind of hoping for a "cool" name instead of 'Lindows'

prepare for Linux und uber-wine....

I had MS Word running on Linux using WINE, which is about all that Lindows will end up doing to run Window's apps - folks, I do not think this is the way to popularize Linux -- '

'Oh, look, Linux can run some Window's applications almost as good as Windows....'

~~ah, but I was wrong about the Athlon XP thing, so maybe I'm wrong here too.

Hmm, does this mean M$ needs more lawyers? Are they getting sloppy?

I think I'll wait for the appeal before getting too confident about the potential success of Lindows

Your friendly cynic
