Bad news arrived tonight!

I had to work late today, but early this afternoon I had a very bad feeling!

A little background . . . My Dad is/was 88y.o. and had pnemonia and a heart attack early this winter. After a week, he walked out of the hospital. I was notified 4 days ago that he was back in the hospital for the same thing again. I talked to my oldest brother and 2nd from youngest yesterday (Sunday), and they said he was extremely week, but seemed to be picking up.

Anyway, when I pulled into the driveway tonight, my wife came out and said, "You need to come in and sit down, I have some very bad news for you!" I shocked her when I said, "Dad died this afternoon." (I hadn't even gotten out of the truck yet!) I don't know why, but I felt something was very wrong around noon my time. I kind of put it to the back of my mind, but I knew what it was and didn't want to accept it. (FYI, Dad passed on around 11:30a.m. Central.)

I have never found anyone who had ANYTHING bad to say about my Dad. He will be missed by many friends and the large family. (He is the 3d of 12 kids to pass on in his family.)

Well, my oldest brother will pick me up Tues. p.m. and then we will drive back to N. Minnesota for Saturdays funeral. I will check in from my sister's place. (She's a member here as well, wanna guess who introduced her to TechIMO and who she is?)

Harder

P.S. I've mention several times that I was raised Mennonite/Lutheran, and while I never talk much about it, here's something interesting to think about.

My Dad also never talked publically about our beliefs, but several years ago, after major surgery, they lost him in the elevator on the way to recovery. (Any idea what it's like trying to recesitate in an elevator?) The only thing Dad ever commented on about it was "I looked accross the river Jordan, but He told me to go back, it wasn't time." Now, He has called and Dad has gone home.

Sorry to hear this, Sharder8.

In a way its good for him. At 88 with so many medical problems, it would have been a relief for him to let go.

Take care.
