Summer is comming and i really need one

The problem is that here in sweden they cost too much
the cheapest i've seen was 1500$(usd).

Walmart has one for 124$ but they dont ship to sweden

Does anyone know some place that has cheap ACs that ship to sweden ? ?

Skywalker, perhaps one of us could get one for you, and ship it over?? Also, I'm not sure, but I think you'll need some kind of power converter...

If I'm not mistaken, Sweden uses 220 volt 50Hz current, correct ?

That's the kicker 50hz instead of US standard of 60 cycles per second.

voltage is easy to raise and lower however frequency is not.

Call your power company and ask what is the Frequency and Voltage to residential customers.

Ask also what is the allowed max and minumum voltages considered normal.

This will give us more to go on for a converter if a "frequency" converter is needed.

Voltage conversion is easy, frequency is neither easy or cheap.. AFAIK anyway.

we use 220v 50hz current

i have a total of 67amps in my room
dont know about the maximum voltage tho

but i have 22 outlets in my room so iguess it's pretty high
i had no problem running a LAN with 24computers last summer

Some things can run quite happily off 50Hz when they were intended for 60Hz.

Changing the frequency would be difficult & expensive, but it is possible. You'd need an inverter (it's the same piece of kit that they use to make mains voltage from 12, 24V etc.). There are inverters that can generate a steady 240V/50Hz (or whatever) from a range of frequency & voltage inputs, but they are expensive.

Induction motors that are wired for 220V 60Hz will run quite happily over here: they just won't run quite as fast as they were intended to. A 60Hz induction motor would typically run at 3000rpm on 50Hz instead of 3600 on 60.

What about those portable air conditioners?? Only trouble is that you have to have an exhaust vent, which means making a hole in the wall or a window for the air-air versions, but there are watercooled ones available. They sell in the UK for between £200 and £400.

How big is the room you wish to cool, in Feet please ''

What is the highest "average" temperatures you expect to see.

A 10,000 BTU Window A/C unit will draw about 11 amps @ 120vac or 5.5 amps @ 220vac

This is from a High Effecinecy Sharp unit with a EER of about 10.0 (Energy Effeciency Rating)

I assume you're talking about a 'window' unit, correct ?

You might run into import problems if the refrigerant is not legal for usage in your country.

I suggest a call to a local a/c dealer or a visit and ask which refigerant they use then you'll probably get the low-down.
