That looks like a giant shaving brush in his hand. |

Obviously a set-up, as that is a woodworking space...that's a chisel mallet in his hand, and there's a spokeshave and another chisel in the photo.
Not sure I care for the intent of the pic, though. |

Skywalker is from sweden and might not be as sensitive to what that picture implies as americans would be...

Well, good point, Mead...I'm sure he didn't mean to offend anybody.
But sometimes, in our endless quest for a giggle, we sometimes point at a wrong target. God knows I have... |

But what is the target? Is it a racist picture? Or inferring that conditions where the product is produced are primitive ?
I'm not sure. I think whats intended is slamming compaq quality control...
BTW, it looks like a re-touched photo to me

Perhaps I'm just being overly sensitive...but I don't believe for a second that the image was created for the purpose of slamming Compaq, I believe the image was created for the purpose of suggesting that if this minority race were to build computers, here's the kicked-in-the-head way they'd do it...
Ask yourself this...if the image showed the same workers in a hi-tech office, wearing white short-sleeved shirts and ties, using appropriate tools on the components, would there be any humor to it? then again, maybe I just don't like seeing woodworking tools used like that... |

Thanks Sky.... Did it without us even having to contract you. I personally think you did it trying to poke fun at Compaq for their supposed poor quality control as we all know the last place you would want to build a computer is in a "woodworkers shed" using chisels and such for tools .
But thanks for the better thinking in the long run Sky...Kudos

YEa.. its meant to be humorous and slamming like the AMD bit that was circulating a while ago. The first parody was about how to know if your kid was a hacker then the second was a slam on AMD products production and quality control. Its not real, just meant to slam Compaq... LOL. As far as the picture- I would rather see a "white/caucasion" person thrown into the the mix with a woman and a child, then it would truly be slamming Compaq and not making any specific racist references. At that point, it would then be nondiscriminatory at its target suggestions and equal "slamming" opportunity and I would then find it funny. As it stands, I snicker and look on.
Pt trying to be made by pic- Compaq assembly uses primitive tools and slave labor in production.
All in all, just meant to be fun. And, Skywalker, as stated before, is from Sweden where there views on racism are not AT ALL as sensitive as in the states.
