Dodge Ball

9 states have banned dodge ball in schools. Good idea or not?

argh! dodge ball is and was the greatest game in the world!!!

i can't believe they are banning it because its to "violent". Parents trying to shelter there kids from getting hurt more and more everyday has long term effects on children

i say keep it!

Definately keep! It's a great game, and it's a "blast" to play. </bad joke> I think that's rediculous for parents to think of it as too dangerous.

Darn right!

I hated that game! I would always get creamed, sometimes a good blow to the head and you heard ringing for a long time.
But I remember the gym teacher was the worst! If he nailed me it would knock me down. Course the good thing was I was always picked off early and could ignore the game after that.

But that was back in the dark ages, when kids fought to solve problems and teachers would whack us with paddles.

Columbine brought attention to this gym activity with Pleybold and Harris. School officials and parents view it at as an opportunity for kids to be picked on and in their opinion, probagate hate and resentment. Honestly- My OPINION- Suck it up and "Play Ball!" Reform and social analization shouldnt start in the Gym as a quick cure or bandaid- they should stop throwing cookies. I agree with the statements above- it toughens ya up.

On a lighter note- I have a friend who has 2 kids in school and this is currently being reviewed right now. He has told me that at school meetings the largest voice in favor of banning "dodge ball" belongs to the mothers. Additionally, he has reported that here, the female to male ratio is atleast 4 to 1. Come on Mom's stop babying your children!

I learned how to not cry when I got hit really hard in the face with the ball.

I'm sure that's somehow useful!?

Yep just another childs game preparing us for life.

Of couse sometimes I see a mom with a two or 3 year old in a store and they're balling their eyes out... and I will look at her and say "Sometimes I feel like doing that too..."

Makes me wonder if it's not all planned.... Weenie Children that always obey and never buck the system, become Weenie Adults, that always obey and never buck whatever system may be in place.
