How much New York City news to you get ?

I commented before about how the US news are US-centric to the point that in a major nor'ester strorm (?) , the anoouncers ended with "thank God" the storm had passed north and had left the U.S --as if it had gone vertical and was headed to the outer edges of the Solar System.

No mention that there is another country there that must have been hard hit i.e. Canada .

When I am out of NYC --which used to be quite often, I spent very little time watching TV.

How much coverage do things like major trials, the throwing -out of the conviction of a Police Officer in the Abner Louima torture case, the elections get etc.?

"All politics is local", the saying goes.

But is the coverage a tad too local ?

DOOOG

P.S. My GF watches BBC News to get better coverage.

Here we get very little news coverage from other places.

We get the more interesting/important?/significant news from the States here, only today there was a piece on the erection of memoria (temporary) at ground zero. There were also reports on the scandal of the uncremated/buried bodies in Georgia.

I did notice that there was little or no international news on US tv (unless Bush-baby is abroad), it seems as though this parochiality (made up word?) might extend to other areas in the US.

P.S.
I really liked the idea of the two beams shining skywards, I think they should make that permanent, whatever else they do.

Unless I watch channel 29, ALL my news is from NYC. It seems as though NJ doesnt generate any news by itself...
