Well, live yoghurt in preference to errr... non-live (it doesn't seem to be called 'dead' yogurt whereas 'live' yoghurt is called 'live' )

Antibiotics indiscriminately kill bacteria & there are a whole host of 'beneficial' bacteria in your gut. Live yoghurt, when eaten during a course of antibiotics, supposedly helps to maintain the population of beneficial bacteria.

It tastes good, too! Proper live natural organic yoghurt... made from proper full-fat milk Yummy! None of yer low fat malarkey with guar/xanthan gum stabilisers

Misc

It is true that antibiotics can kill the normal flora of the gut. I'm not sure it can be proven to be beneficial, but eating "real" yogurt makes a lot of sense to me. I would only suggest that you continue AFTER the course of antibiotics is complete. I have concern that the helpful bugs in the yogurt might be killed by the antibiotic as well; perhaps continuing the yogurt would help re-populate the gut.

Bifidium and lactobacilli are available in pill form in health food stores for those who can't deal with the yogurt...
