Anyone play Darts?
Anyone play Darts?
I play darts in a "Blind Draw" tournament every Saturday night on Electronic Boards. Cricket and 501 mostly. Its a lot of fun.
I bought a new set of Soft Tip darts and love them. They are 18g "KA " darts by Bottlesen. Best investment I ever made.
I also play on a Bristle board and I have a set of Hammer Heads for this. I know this is the real way to play but there is nothing better than having the score kept for you when playing darts and drinking beer....

I used to play darts occasionally but no tourneys... I suck lol
I like playing with the plastic tip more a bit safer lol.. although I HATE it when it hits the board and just bounces off lol
18g, isn't that pretty heavy? lol
Best kind
I hate light darts, throws me off completley.

My other set of soft tip darts were 12g and my accuracy improved alot with these new one.
The kind of tips you use can make all the difference with bounce outs. I rarely have a problem with that. also I change them as soon as they start to lose shape which is pretty often cause I throw hard....

I play every Friday night in a Mixed Couples Cricket league, with 4 person teams. We're the defending champs from last year and we're leading the league right now, I figure that we'll repeat, unless we fall on our faces in the last 3 weeks Right now my teammate Tim and I are battling it out for male player of the year.
We did have a minor setback last week when one of the ladies on our team fell and broke her ankle, we're using a sub for the last few weeks now. But she's still there every week, drinking beer and keep us in line |

I used to play alot when I would go to the bars (everynight). I have since quit playing but do miss it. The only game I really played was baseball.

Used to play in a league with a few buddies. The teams would play a couple games of 301 (1 vs 1), 501 (2 vs 2), Cricket doubles (2 vs 2) and Cricket (1 vs 1).
We were never champs or anything...think we got 3rd place one season. I don't shoot too much anymore...for a couple reasons;
1. Too frustrating for me. I was a very "hot 'n cold" player. Some nights I'd hit everything like I was a trained sniper and other nights I'd be lucky to hit board at all. And of course the times I needed to shoot well was when I choked.
2. I know you guys won't believe this...and especially if you ever saw me shoot on a bad night. But there was one faithful night where I hit 3 double-bulls to win an otherwise "unwinnable" game. I'm talking 3 double-bulls with 3 darts, 1-2-3. I literally fell to my knees. I've done the 3 T20 thing (ton-80) a couple times prior, but the triple DB, in a game (though it was a practice game), and to win the game with it, well it just blew my socks off. Of course it was meaningless cause it was just me & the guys shooting at my house. But still, it affected me mentally somehow. It's like "ok, done that. Need a new game now." |

Know what ya me Out. I shot pool in a league and was also in a bowling league.
On the first date with my wife(girlfriend at the time), I had to bowl. Her idea to come watch. I rolled the highest game of my life. a 265. I had the first 8 strikes and left a wobbly 10 pin on the ninth. It was very nerve racking. My turn would come up and everyone with in 5 lanes either side would stop and watch me. Any how that was the last year that I bowled.
In the pool league, again with my wife ( still girlfriend ) it was the first time that she came out to see me shoot. As we are sitting there she says that one of her ex boyfriends was on the other team. Well wouldn't ya know it I had to shoot aainst him. I broke and ran the table on him. This was the first time I had ever ran a table. Felt very good. Needless to say the guy was alittle upset because they needed that game to win, and he never got out of his seat. That also was the last year that I shot pool.

Oh and about the "electronic" darts or soft-tip. Well, I'm sorry but that's just not real darts. I've given them a chance too. I've tried to be open-minded and accept soft-tip as legit. But no. No, no, no. it's just not right. To me the dart has to penetrate the board forcefully and then remain stuck throughout your shot. Dullness or sharpness of the steel tip, as well as polished or textured finish of the tip has a great deal to do with the game. To take that away in favor of prefabricated holes in the board that the dart just falls into, that is so wrong. Why not just play magnetic nerf darts? |

Quote Jman:Its a lot of fun.
A good nite in a pub should be.
Good games good people. Even better.
Take you up on the Darts tho'
We have always played here 'Darts' as you would.
Boards, darts, etc, as it is played proper.
Matter of fact, one of our blokes went over earlier this year and took the World Title.
Average "normal" dart weighs 21 to 23 Grams.
My "Little Darlings" are 18 gms and so small.
Body 38 mm by 6mm and 30 mm points.
Pure tungsten.
You can put all 3 in the corner of a treble and have room for more.
The other arrows, A set of nicely balanced 23gm tungstens with a knurl. 45mm by 7mm body with way long points 35 mm.
I use a short stem in these with a dimple flight.
And one of the ones that got away. Had to buy some 27gm bombs one weekend. District champs. Played 6 hours. Shoulder dead, dead, dead. Nice Darts.
Umm. Send this. Think some more.
Darts is a great game! Chrs R.
