Saw two movies tonight...

Saw We were soldiers, and 40 days 40 nights...

We were soldiers
Good movie, good action flick ...
One thing that caught my eye in the movie, that I dont remember seeing in other war movies they actually show the enemy as humans... one of the guys had small diary with him, with a pic of his g/f in the book... shows they were people.. yes I agree people that if not killed would kill us w/o thinking twice about it (this person in particular attempted to bayoney mel gibson in the back, and was shot promptly) but my point was, yes these are people too... they have lives, they have wives just like our soldiers... they didn't make it a crying session where thats what the whole movie was about, it was more a of a subtle thing..
It showed, the spirit of the soldiers that under no circumstances would they leave somebody behind (much like blackhawk down) and that when you're out there in the field you're fighting for your brothers lives more than anything at that particular moment.
Good movie Although I think I'll hold off on any more war movies, as I believe there is still the bruce willis one and I think one more coming out soon

40 days, 40 nights
Albeit fairly unbelievable, funny flick... not rolling off the seat funny but "rather humorous" if you will. Certainly not the caliber of say Something about Mary surely a good laugh for the younger crowd. Not sure how much humor elderly fellows will see in it as it is 100% sexual humor lol and does include nudity so no chilluns

Ok going off to play some PS2 so flame me if you will
If you saw it, your opinions? questions of which I have no answers?
40 days 40 nights would of been better, if the damn theater hadn't started leaking from the roof lol

40 days.....nah, not a sexual humor movie fan

Soldiers....ok, 85% of the previews made it look like a drama with some action in it......then I see this one preview they rarely show that has "action music" and shows almost purely the action end of it.........what kind of movie is it??

That's cool that they portrayed the enemy that way....not some mindless zombie who yells giberish. (Thankfully) I don't have to rely on Hollywood to give me an accurate portrayal of wartime....books are so much better

The quintessential anti-war war movie was All Quiet on the Western Front wherein a French soldier (or Brit) shoots a German soldier and then slowly spends the nite in a foxhole with him and gets to know him while he dies. Lew Ayers --who actualy was assigned as a med because he belonged to a Pacifist religion during the WWI plays the soldier.

Amnother notable film of this genre was the French film directed by an offspring of Renoir La Grande Illusion wherein officers of different nations are interned in the same camp.

DOOOG

P.S. Try reading some of the English WW I poets , Wilfred Owens and Sigfried Sasoon.

Another good one is Paths of Glory by Stanley Kubrick w/Kirk Douglas.

In All Quiet on the Western Front, it was a French soldier killing a German soldier.
It was a pretty good movie.
