Vancouver/canada guys .. little info please!

Hi all,
To make the story short .. i have a friend that will go to Vancouver on next April, she is a close friend of mine, thats why i`m so worried about her ...

She has no friends there yet and almost no information, beside her weak English ... she will study for a few weeks in an English school ...
So, i`m here to ask for info and tips for her ..

* What is the name of safe and not expensive area (with well transportation service) for a girl to rent an apartment in?
* Is it hard to find a roommate? and what the best way to search for a one?
* How expensive is the Internet providers (how much monthly is the cheapest) ? .. she will take her laptop with her ...
* Any other tips recommendations .. please feel free to suggest ...

I live close enough to help out I think.

Vancouver is actually a very safe city with lots of options.

The area has decent transit and also the skytrain that runs from the burbs to downtown. Burnaby is safe and not too expensive to rent. Basically the further east you go from downtown the cheaper it gets.

* Is it hard to find a roommate? and what the best way to search for a one?
I see a lot of ads for room mates in the papers but I would think that the best idea would be to hook up with someone from the school.

You can get very cheap ISP's that are good, like $8 per month.

* Any other tips recommendations .. please feel free to suggest ...
Vancouver is very multicultural so she will fit right in.
