Adult Swin revisited

Hmmm....
this is intresting.

A while back, I watched cartoon networks adult swim (I can hear the groaning people backing out of this thread now:

Anyway, I thought is sucked. Shows like home movies and french fry something or other don't appeal to me okay. I sat through the horror of 5 minutes each, then left. Tonight, I started to watch Adult swim just to see whats on TV. Some show called cowboy bebop. Hmmm....I'd heard about it before. So I sat down and watched. Pretty cool. The animation was amazing (obviously, im an anime fan). The acting was great. It was just an excellent show. (I don't feel like typing much, okay. My hands are sore). Intresting... so I do a little research on the net. Seems that they have a saturday anime block. Awesome. Ever since toonami started sucking (for multiple reasons, mainly the fact that AOLTW absorbed CN and got a bunch of people pissed off (including me) by canceling a bunch of shows). I saw that Tenchi Muyo was on there and almost started rejoicing, but then noticed it was censored....$%^&! O well, but so is Outlaw star. Grumble....

Cowboy Bebop is my new favorite cartoon (my favorite show is, and wil always be, the older episodes of SNL).

As another obvious thing, we don't get much anime and anime-style things here in the states. But we do have the simpsons (yay!).

There is one good show on there, Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Any program lineup that includes that show isn't all bad.

Cowboy Bebop and other anime are cool

Anyone seen Aqua Teen Hunger Force??

I've recently gotten ahold of Macross Plus. Seeing how long ago they made that 4ep. series, I must say that I'm very impressed with the animation.

Ben, Macross Plus is definitely an excellent choice, even considering the age of the series. Great animation work for back in the day.

BTW, Cowboy BeBop was the top DVD seller at Yahoo this week. The unedited version is slightly better, but I do congratulate CN on not hacking up the series too much. Could have been another Techni or Sailor Moon hack job..... that would have seriously sucked.

Want to know what CN edited in each of your favorite Adult Swim shows? Check this out this great resource:

Now if SciFi would just bring back anime movies to its late Saturday night programming block. Also, those of ya' with the Action channel must be really lucky for anime viewing. My backwater cable company does offer such "premium" conent. Charter Communications is so bad that my local utlities network are developing its own cable network!

While Techni wasn't hacked like SM (like whole episodes, whole scenes, complete dialog change, the list goes on forever), it did undergo several changes before CN would air the dub.

Most of the more serious edits had to do with colorful langauge and artwork. Understanding that CN is a family oriented channel, I suppose I can let this series slide. Check out my earlier link for the edits.

Just one question, many many cups of "tea" does it take before you're drunk? Like drinking sake or saying "die" are really going to scare this generation of children. Perhaps Ted and the other execs should examine CNN's content before hacking up Adult Swim animes.

The most controversial Techni edits appeared during Season 1 of the OVA. Check this out:

My favorite edited scene? Check out #4 on the list.
