This is to warn all consumers in Western Massachusetts, Eastern Upstate New York, Western Connecticut and Southern Vermont about a scam artist doing business as "Morrison's Home Improvement Specialists, Inc"
in Pittsfield, Mass. The owner, Steve Morrison, has done business under a myriad of different business names, and must keep changing them because he has repeatedly been SUED, declared BANKRUPTCY and is generally just a half-step ahead of his creditors. He's EVEN HAD HIS CONTRACTOR'S LICENSE PERMANENTLY REVOKED,
and must now hire another contractor with the proper permits/licenses to do business under.
He's gone through 2 of these suckers in 2 years. Steve Morrison looks, acts, and sounds just like "TONY SOPRANO"; that should tell you something right there.
He was hired him in October 2006 to do two small roofing jobs; a stand-alone garage and an attached enclosed porch. They overcharged me the deposit upfront and didn't start the job until 6 weeks later - in December (in the Northeast!) They did the garage roof first, that was the easier of the two; then TORE A TEN-FOOT HOLE in the porch roof to "investigate" its condition". They then claimed it was a 'bigger job than they thought' and TRIED TO REWITE THE CONTRACT from $2600 to $45,000!!! When we refused, they 'downsized' the job to a 'mere' $36,000 but REFUSED TO HONOR THE CONTRACT as written. We said NO, so they came and STOLE the roofing materials I'd PRE-PAID for,
and have refused for 2 years to return the nearly $1000 they owe me for them.
We finally hired another roofer who *did the job for less than HALF* Morrison's original contract price! Repeated letters (ignored), phone calls (they hang up on us)
and visits to MORRISONS office have been futile (even sicced their LARGE GUARD DOG on us).
They tried to get us to sign a BLANK piece of paper saying we'd recieved our refund (when we hadn't).
BBB was USELESS; he PAYS them to defend him. State Atty General has done nothing; they are understaffed/overburdened. We are in the process of SUING
MORRISONS HOME IMPROVEMENT SPECIALISTS, one of MANY lawsuits they've defended since 1996. Stay the heck away from this THIEF, SCAM ARTIST AND CRIMINAL. You'll get nothing but heartache from this EVIL man.
