Sarah Hughes

I'm surprised no one posted about Sarah Hughes' stunning performance last night in the Women's Figure Skating competition, taking the Gold.

I freaked when Michelle Kwan was placed first after her fall, placed even (or above) this teen's superior performance. I thought surely the judging had been compromised again....

... but in the end Hughes received the place she deserved - the top of the Olympic podium. She was fantastic to watch.

WTG, Sarah Hughes!

Yeah that was totally amazing . I'm not all that into figure skating but I enjoy a really good performance and hers definitely was a great one. Landed all the jumps perfectly and was the first woman to do two "triple triple" jumps..

She did a wonderful job. I don't really like ice skating but she gave me goosebumps. I think her enthusiam was what helped her the most!! I hope the Russians don't tarnish what she worked so hard for and deserves!

As if the olympic pressure wasn't great enough for them:

The world is now her oyster, all she needs to do is get the right advice and stay grounded in spite of all the attention and money being thrown at her. At 16 years old, she seems to have a pretty healthy head on her shoulders.

While it's not a prerequisite, I think athletes of this nature are so attuned to hard work, discipline, and the stress and pressure of being in (and out of) the spotlight to be the best in the world in their craft, I'd say her odds are pretty good.
