This is about the people on this board, and how impressed I am with you. I woke up today thinking about some of the folks here, and how much fun I get to have with you all. Then I got to thinking about "what am I DOING here?" as I'm just starting out with computers in the first place (as usual, I'm in over my head, but that's how I do everything...

).
And finally, it occured to me that in almost any other situation where a newbie (at anything) shows up among the "old hands", that guy just has to pay dues, sweep the floors, etc. before anybody takes him seriously.
Didn't happen here at TechIMO. From day one, I've been treated courteously, and even affectionately;
For example: In the last couple of weeks, I've learned to use Photoshop to scan stuff in, which led a couple other members to assume I knew more about it than I did. When I confessed to not knowing much about it, I got a PM from CrystalDragon (he said I could mention this

) inviting me to set-up a Yahoo IM, so that he could guide me through some operations!! I didn't ask; he just volunteered.
Then Daft_Ghosty laid out an extensive PS "cheat sheet" of the coolest info. He spent a bit of time doing it. I also saw where he laid out several pages on it for Robin801. Again, nobody asked; he just volunteered it.
This, friends, is impressive.

and these are just a couple of instances where you people have swooped in and offered really good advice. It's too easy for a seasoned hand at ANYTHING to get an "attitude" towards a neophyte...it takes a much larger person to reach, and connect, and finally, to help.
I remember when I first got here, and was battling a *#!!%!! old computer, and posted some questions. Several people jumped in with suggestions, which were greek to me...finally, Fatalxception and Tom Nelson figured out that I was totally confused, and walked me through a solution. Tom even ended a post with, "There, you're getting the hang of it!"
That's what I want to do...when I'm up to speed with these things, and some confused and overwhelmed newbie walks in with a problem and nobody to talk to, I hope to recognize their problem, post a good solution to it
at the level they can understand, and reassure them, and say...
There...you're getting the hang of it!"
Bravo, people. Take a bow.
