No one here has said a peep about the latest Media Player 7 and how MS logs what media files you watch/listen to, even those stored locally on your drive or DVD's? They cannot be erased or cleared out without disabling the media player itself.

If the above statement can be believed (and quite likely, it's true) then the information collected is demographic (marketing) information.

Like when you'd buy a VCR and you'd have warranty cards to fill out, only they wanted to know your income, age, habits, etc.

This way, they don't need to ask you to fill out ANYTHING...

But their ads are gonna have a REAL hook to you...

this is a good reason why I have stopped buying microsucks products. If I wan't to pay someone to spy on me, then I'd hire the KGB. Real player dose the same thing, I guess M$ decided if RP can get away with it, then so can they...
