Computer to monitor children

I want a way that I can monitor (prefer audio only) my children while they are sleeping on my computer.I Like to work in the basement while they are sleeping and I want to hear them when they wake up.

could set up a web cam looking near their door or in the room... then set it to detect a certain ammount of motion... say one sitting up in bed... then have that run in a window on your screen... I think you can view a web cam over the net if You have XP but i would have to test that... it also requires a PC up by the cam... oh well... just a though I know of cheap radios that dont require licences that can be set to transmit all the time, just choose a channel and a sub channel and chances are that no one with in 2 miles will pick it. Best of luck

Crosstalk can freak you out. I remember hearing "baby wanna go" coming out of the baby monitor, and freaking - (my 3 month old was in the crib).

netmeeting will allow webcam and voice over a lan.

crosstalk is a riot, we used to get that when my little brother had the monitor in his room.
Lots of people in my neighborhood have young ones so they have the baby monitors going.

This would be for WIN 2K.I want to run the cabling thru the basement while it is unfinished.Any suggestions on a Wecam that will work for 75" run of cable?
Their rooms are on the first floor ant the computer is in the basement at the opposite end of the house.

You could get one of those X10 cams. They are wireless and have motion sensors.
