Nero and roxio

100 thank you's
got nero 8 and it works great. Made a dvd fast!!!!!
The program is huge almost a full gig but i have a 250 hard drive .

Now that installed nero what do I do with the Roxio program that came with my dell? Should I just leave it alone? I ask because both programs do almost the same thing...

Keep whichever one you like the best and uninstall the other. There's no reason to have both. Plus it will free up some space. From what I remember Roxio and Nero don't play nice together, but they seem to be coexisting nicely on your Dell.

If they can live together on the dell which so far no confict, then I will leave it.
As for anyone looking at getting nero, I feel it is too much of a program. I do not understand all the things it can do because it does so much.

Roxio is ok for a novice like me, the only thing i need from nero is nero vision. Wow! Nero vision makes great DVD's out of many types of files.

Teach me one more thing. How does the computor know which program to use when burning something, rox , nero or explorer.

You will need to start up the specific program you want to use. If you just do a send to CDRW operation, it will automatically use the built in burning utility in Windows.

i like nero. i would keep roxio installed just in case you might ever need it (which i dont think you will since nero does a lot of stuff). Delete when you start having conflicts between software defaults.

In my perspective, if there is no conflicts just leave it on your computer. Roxio doesn't take up that much space. It's just an in case if you want to use on or the other, I got nero 7 & Roxio 10 installed for the last 2 months or so and haven't had any problems. I prefer Roxio over nero though because it is easier for me to navigate.

if you think about it, you might need it in someways if one software can't be used, the other one can
