most controversial topic yet -

I'm pro-choice, I respect those that are not.

I'll leave it at that.

Pro-Life...

maybe only under certain circumstances would i be pro-choice.. such as if the mother would die during the delivery..

other than that.. i view abortion as a way to un-do someones irresponsable mistake..

Pro-life but don't side with any person who chooses violent demonstrations as a way telling people you like to save lives....

Good grief Ocit...as if we weren't squabbling enough over in the Bush/Iraq thread.

You're quite the troublemaker.

Wart:

Ya know, in college I was involved in a few demonstrations against abortion, and I've never seen a violent one. Don't believe the image the media paints, I've met alot of pro-life folks in my life, even many who were quite active in protesting, and I've always been struck by their gentleness and love. I had a roomate for a while whose life revolved around pro-life activism. He was not violent in the least bit, he genuinely cared, and wanted to help women in difficult circumstances.

Having said that, I haven't had any interest in that kinda thing for a long time. My wife and I are looking at taking in a Teen mom in Foster Care. That's our response. I can't argue someone into being pro-life, but I can help someone who is trying to make it as a young parent in difficult circumstances.

Some nutcase with a rifle is not representative of those who want to save lives.

It's really not about control, it's about whether or not the "fetus" is a human being worthy of protection.

If you believe that it's not, then the Pro-life folks sound like they're trying to control a woman's body. But if you believe that the "fetus" in the womb is a baby, then it has nothing to do with control, it's about protecting a human life.

Our laws say you do not have the right to kill another person. You do not have that right, your body is controlled in that area. The debate really comes back to, is it a human life?

Having watched the pictures of my son rolling around in the womb, feeling him kick & react to the environment, having him keep my wife awake cause he was zooming around (he's still zooming at 2) I'd say yes, it is a life. Both of my children expressed their personalities in the womb, their personhood at that point is was and is so very clear to me.

So they're you have it Tonto, that's where I'm coming from. That's why I don't think it's about controlling a person's rights.
