Outdoors My First Rant

The Pepsi or Coke poll made me think of this. It is my first rant, and I am a little touchy about sports, being an ex-athlete.

[/RANT]

There reason that I now refuse to drink Coke is the same reason that I will never again eat Tostitos.

Tostitos - Two years ago there was the "Tostitos" Orange Bowl. I can accept the name on a football game, even the logo on the feild. However they went so far as to PUT THEIR LOGO ON THE TROPHY! When I saw that I was floored.

I was driving down this morning and a radio ad came on for the Olympics. However it was not called the olympics, it was called "The Coca-Cola 2002 Winter Olympic Games." What's next? A Coca-Cola logo on the metal? The commericalization of sports is everything that wrong with sports today. It has posioned what was pure. Even the most pure competition of all, the Olympic Games, has been tainted. It is only going to get worse. Pretty soon football, baseball, basketball, & soccer uniforms are going to look like Nascar.

What a dark day.

[/RANT]

They do have the right, wht I am saying is that it is wrong. This didn't happen 75 years ago. What angers me is that I feel that sport is one of the finest human actions. Especially the olympics, where all the nations of the world put aside their differences, wars, & hatred and come together to compete on the same field together.

You are 100% right. However that doesn't make it right.

no its not right, but hey there is alot of things that happen now that are not right and we look past it. why stop now? The olympics were to prove to see who was the best in sport events and now its just a big circus with flashy ads

It should say 2002 olympics sponsered in part by coke not the coca cola 2002 olyimpics as they are surely not the only sponsers.I'd like it better if it was pepsi 2002 olympic since that is what i drink.LOL

Yep, that, in a nutshell, is the problem with the corporate world now.
The question is seldom, "Is it the right thing to do?"
But rather, "Is there any LAW against it?"

btw, I have this idea about selling ad space on the moon...

not bad for a first rant...be sure to come back and rant more often!

KA

I agree with you - and at the same time - this is suppose to be progress - I am not sure what the evolution will create - and niether does the sponsor - I just found it funny to see everyone wearing gear with little check marks on thier right shoulder.

oh well - wiz
