Are the Olympics Corrupt???

So I was watching the Olympics this morning on CBC, the federally funded, Nationally available channel in Canada this morning. They showed a replay of the silver medal performance by the Canadians Pelletier and Sale and compared it to that of the Russians who won gold.

How the hell did the Russians win gold??

They're performance was so much worse than the Canadian pair's performance. I'm not ranting because of the fact that the Canadians didn't win gold, but I'm ranting because of the constant bias exhibited by European judges in that sport.

I don't know. Sometimes it isn't really fair though. With figure skating especially. It's a judgement call, and sometimes they are wrong. I didn't see it, so I don't know what was up.

I saw it, I dont like figure skating, but I was hoping they would show hockey results and clips between performances. The russian man almost fell on his butt and the canadian couples looked pretty perfect to me. I mean it looked like the russian guy was going down hard, he barely managed to stay up but it looked terrible and he totally didnt land it.
Ive gotta give it to those Canadian skaters though, they knew they won and were still sportsman like in the interview afterwards when they were asked how they felt about getting a nice sharp pole rammed up their butt.

Systems Stolen!!!

Nothing ever changes! Sure the Canadians were robbed (I am Canadian) last night, but this has been happening for many years. Very recently the dance pair of Bourne and Kratz (sp?)/(also Cdn) were robbed of a gold medal to a Soviet couple. It's not the Soviets' fault, but it certainly is the constant bias that exists amongst the skating judges. Even in Nagano it was thought that the final standings were predetermined before the first skate hit the ice, but nothing ever comes of this. Last night's outrage too will pass!!

I don't know the answer to your question. But I do know for a fact that everyone has a price.

Everyone.

Most of the judges have the winners preset in their minds from previous competitions. It has very little to do with the actual Olympic performance anymore. The Russian couple could have skated the whole performance on their butts and still won. Figure skating has been like this for years. Some are suggesting that its a give and take between countries for medals and that Canada got robbed because they are honest.

Sorry,
the canadian routine was OLD. 2 years old as a matter of fact. This is a sport..... ya try to do new and harder and better things... they didn't.... that's why the bronze people got the bronze... they tried something that has NEVER been done before.... even though they missed it... they still TRIED something new

In terms of the Olympics, the routine was new cause they never performed before. I usually takes years to perfect a routine that is Olympic worthy and they perfected it.

The Russians are good, no doubt about it, the judges just stink.
