Olympic Figure Skating lastnight DISGUSTING

The way the russians were treated was DISGUSTING. Yes, the canadians DID skate perfectly..... but, that program was TWO years old.... there wasn't anything NEW in it..... same OLD stuff..... I feel so sorry for those two, they skated thier hearts out, and those stupid announcers kept ripping on them. ERG! sorry, i just don't even know what to say......

Hmmm......

It would seem that many thousands of people in the crowd last night would disagree with you.

The Canadians rocked last night!! The Russian's performance was great as well however they did have some mistakes which should have cost them top spot.

We can rant and rave about it, but it won't change the outcome. See ya in 2006 I guess.

BTW, the Canadian's are current World Champs!!

Ugh. I was so disappointed with those judges. It tarnishes the very spirit of the Olympics, IMO.

I watched it and felt the Canadians deserved the Gold! They skated a perfect technical program and stirred the emotions while the Russians flubbed on some of their moves and lacked passion.

Seems "favorites" doesn't exist only in horse-racing! I think the Canadians were robbed - and I'd bet those Russians feel like they stole the Gold, too.

Also, the crowd treated the Russians with respect when the awards were given out, with applause and no boo's that I heard - as they should have. It wasn't the skaters' fault, it was the judges who deserved the boo's.

Maybe we need to add some members to "Axis of Evil"
Hoping what goes around will come around to those who bred such immence disappointment and heartbreak.

I disaggree... the canadians could have had a more difficult routine, they did what they've been doing for the past 2 years, so, of COURSE they're going to do it perfectly..... If you do the same thing for 2 years straight, you probably will do it perfectly.... but, this is for the olympics... a sport... sports are about getting better, setting new records, going faster, higher, harder. They did none of these.....

Wait wait wait, this isn't what I was talking about though...... I'm saying, they shouldn't rip on the russians, or try to make what they did, any less great....

I agree... and I feel that's why the Chinese couple got the bronze, for their attempt at that quadruple thingie <g> - which she completed!! - but then fell afterwards. I think if she hadn't fell, AND the guy hadn't flubbed shortly thereafter, they probably would've gotten the Gold (but who knows with those judges?)

It's all subjective and that's why there's controversy, IMO. Style can't be judged on a timeclock - so there will always be controversy in that area. BUT I believe Gold medals shouldn't be handed out when there are obvious technical mistakes in the program.

Edit - I'm not ripping on the Russians... I'm ripping on the judges. I believe the commentators made this clear, as well.

Yeah, the problem of judges with their own aganda has been around for a long time...

Remember the Olympics in Seoul, Korea? I watched the boxing event with some friends, and the American boxer, Bobby Jones, was paired with a Korean (I forget his name) for the gold.

Well, as the match played out, we all realized that if somebody didn't stop the event, that poor little Korean guy was likely to get himself killed--it was NOT an even match! We started recognizing that even Jones was pulling back, trying to keep that poor man on his feet. I mean, Jones didn't even look winded, whereas the Korean fella was making those wild "windmill" swings...obviously, his strength and control were gone.

I almost don't have the heart to tell what happened next....that's right, the Korean guy was awarded the gold...

Then ,if so, since the Russians didn't perform their routine "Perfectly", why should they get the gold?????? Why didn't they get deductions for their faults. At least, they should have given then a tie for the gold. The bottom line...The judges really SUCK!!!!!http://www.clarionledger.com/news/0202/13/s01.html
