Excelsior trunk lock. Need info to pick. Help!?

I have an old trunk that is locked( no key of course). Bought it at a garage sale and can't seem to pick the lock. I'm looking on the net but with not much luck. It is an 'Excelsior Hasp lock'. The only markings are;

USA
EXCELSIOR
Stamford
Conn

UC330

Sorry, no pic. Thanks for the help. I want to pick it to see what's inside!

This is kinda what it looks like.

a good Locksmith should have a set of skeleton keys.

In your attempt to pick the lock, picture the key, you are prolly dealing with 3 or so "waffers" they have to be turned and aligned to release the latch.. I've picked 6 pin locks tho,, and always had problems with that kind of lock.. Go figure..

BTW I worked as a Locksmith back in the day, not a cat burglar.

The only thing inside was a note of ownership.
It says;
This belongs to Miss Mary Ann Katherine Herwick R.N.
Boston Floating Hospital. Boston Mass. 1925

It has a small box (4"-5" deep)that sits inside on a ledge the full width and length of the trunk. It is about 2'x3' overall.

Glad to hear that you got it. The way you said it's only a note of ownership makes me wonder if you were trying to find treasure.
