Kids Does anyone Ebay?

Does anyone here sell on Ebay? I cleaned out my closet and sold a bunch of stuff, and it sold very very well. I want to kind of get into it as a part-time kind of thing, and was wondering if anyone had any tips?
I did at least spice up my description with some HTML tags, and I've started using PayPal. However, I'm not sure where to buy wholesale, because I'm not sure I want to buy truckloads of things!
I sell mostly consignment/used clothing, but have sold some stuff I yanked out of my PC to upgrade to bigger and better!
Any ideas on where to purchase some lots of merchandise, or how to attract bidders??
I'm amazed at Ebay, and how well it does!

Actually my wife was really interested into getting into this as well. Haven't had the oppurtunity as of yet however.

Consignment shops, flea markets puter shows..
Maybe even garage/yard saling when the time comes around again

I'll be keeping an eye out for this thread for her info as well

FREE book offers!

That was my idea and I'm just now getting around to selling the dozen or so free books I got from MS and Cisco. Call it immoral if you want

For some reason I can't see myself buying anything on ebay...too cautious I guess...

But I would trade or buy from people here at Techimo though!!

Try to find someone that has some good refs, pictures, etc. Just be smart with who you deal with, that's all.
I have a friend who has sold numerous items over ebay without really paying attention to who he deals with and he hasn't gotten ripped off yet. I tell him to be careful but he won't listen, I hate to say this but I am kind of waiting for him to get ripped off just so I can tell him not to be so cocky...

Mike, you're the eternal optimist.. (or is that realist?)

Geekgrl keep us posted, for some reason I thought that it would be tough to get going if you don't have the evals.

I just got my 14th feedback! yay.
So far, I've made over $200 selling junk out of my closet that I would have thrown out anyway!

Congrats on the positive feedbacks. I eBay, but nothing huge. I just basically keep an eye on what things are selling really good, and look for them locally cheaper than what they are selling for. Plus I go to Garage sales and look for things that look like they might sell good on there.
As for attracting people, I just keep the title simple, and don't use all caps. I have found that using all caps deter's more people than it brings in. Plus I always include a pic, always.

Good luck eBaying

Media eBayer For Life!

Yes, you're right about the pics - pictured items sell better by far! Keep it simple, provide all the details you possibly can re the item and your expectations for payment, shipping, etc. I have eBayed for several years now (as a buyer only...so far). It is a great place to pick up hard-to-find items.
And yes, you do need to be cautious, don't deal with someone with many negative feedbacks - although you really need to read through them to get a feeling about the seller/buyer. I think that you are much safer on the 'seller' side of the transactions, i.e. money in hand before the item ships.
I have tried other auction sites, but despite some negative comments from the also-rans, I prefer eBay by far!
My dad has made good spending money in his retirement years through eBay. (Cheap plug coming.....you can visit his auctions on eBay by searching on seller 'jetexone', expecially if you're into postcards.) He has had very many successfull transactions on eBay over the years. If you happen to buy something from him, tell him I sent you!!
